You hear a lot of stories about addicts/alcoholics who are hopeless cases. They lie, cheat, steal all for that high. They make all of the wrong decisions, turn to the wrong people, and never really want to get help. Well, I was addicted to opiates for over two years. One night, I decided that I couldn't live like I was dead anymore. I realized all of my potential and knew that I had to pull myself out of this haze. I've been sober since October 2011 (actually, I made this decision one night I saw Circa on their last tour), I cleaned house in my life. I've made strong bonds with good(clean) friends and even stronger bonds with my loving, supportive family. I'm never going back to the person I used to be. I am the happiest and healthiest I've ever been and I believe that finally feeling content with my own life is beautiful. Thanks for posting this question and reminding me how lucky I am.
