Always try your best, don't let the little things get yea down, work as hard as you can, always network and try to meet as many people as you can. Always be nice to everyone! You never know who you will meet that will remember that and want to hire you haha Don't get down if you can't find a job right away, mine came up randomly so yours might too! :D

Well as far as people go I would say it's good to know people who are interested in the same things as you so in this case music industry/tour ect Networking and getting jobs is the best way to get your self out there, alway network with different people you never know who you could meet that might need a employee in the future. As far as the "look" thing goes, I don't know, I have been working as a promoter since I was in high school and I have met a lot of different people with a lot of different looks, nothing has been consistent haha

I started off going to local shows when I was younger which eventually turned into me becoming a promoter/booker I did that for 7 years helped out bands randomly with shows and festivals and then PF got confirmed for RAFOMP and they asked if I would go with them :D My life in short haha
