All you have to do is email us at: team@defyingmainstream.com with a cover letter, and your portfolio/tear sheet/resume, etc... If you're somewhat new (such as a student) or a blogger, you may email us your site, flickr, etc., and some kind words and we'll get back to you. We're quite strict to who contributes, but we do consider and look into everyone that sends us an email. xB

Thank you! I'm glad that you are, darling. Well, the "Pre-Issue" is set to launch either late March or early April. The first real issue should come out in Summer, so probably around May, June, or July. It all depends on this upcoming Fashion Week, and when I complete the search for my core collaborators. Updates will definitely be up ever so often on the blog, so stay tuned!

Sadly, no. I took Japanese for two years when I was in High School, and I sort of been loosing it over the years by not having to use it. That is the main reason why I'm setting up a Japanese site. To practice, and to share my views in Nihongo. I announced it'd be launched the previous weekend, but I've been contemplating the layout, so I may delay it for a month or so.

Besides the main facts about my current project I'm not one to share the details right away. I'm one of those quiet strategizers. I'll hit you when you least expect it. Whether you love me or hate me after that, it's up to you. You'll probably love me though. Only the bitter, hate.

So, dazzler, I hope I've increased your anticipation, because I don't want to spoil all my surprises- they have to bring a definite amount of excitement :)!

I’m interested in being an editor of my own magazine, which I’m not sure what it’ll be. That’s why I’m experimenting now. I want to work for magazines from America to Japan first too. Which ones you ask? Currently I’ve been leaning towards: Vogue (USA), V Magazine, Dazed Digital, Vogue (France), and Vogue (Japan). I believe in studying from the greats before jumping in, and that’s why I have an E-Zine on the side: to take advantage of digital media too, to experiment and test being avant garde in the world of fashion/journalism.

I guess you can call us nerds from art to figuring out how we can succeed. No one can tolerate a certain commercial image for so long. That's why it shifts ever so often. People need people to give them things to look forward to. Many of those people have mocked us before, but then we become the entertainment and business heads. From Lady GaGa to J.K. Rowling, we are the ones laughing now, and positively- not in any way demeaning. For those who pushed us made us the strongest. We are those that make it "us versus the vegetables", "thinking out of the box", or "rebelling".

We're not trying to start a trend- we're trying to rule out all those people who strive to be different and give them the assurance by promoting the success and true fulfillment in being original.

My current project has to be the best. Defying Mainstream is going to be dazzling.
