I cannot stand for my toe nails to be seen without polish. I am a lotion snob and addict. Other than my wedding ring I prefer for all of my other jewelry to be fake because there is a 99% chance that I will lose it

Shot with my husband... he pushes me, inspires me, comforts me and engages me with every wedding we shoot. He is my biggest fan and our companies most valued asset. Hands down this is the best thing I have done so far...

This year Rick and I attended WPPI in a lighter kind of way. We had a wedding within the first few days of the conference so we really just did the Trade Show, a workshop by Lara Casey and one industry party. I can honestly say I thought the party was a waste of money and even more so a waste of time. I may say this a lot but face to face ONE ON ONE contact is so much better. Next year I plan on having a plan to meet up with the people I admire.

This year I would love to GROW more than I have in other years, photographically speaking. I would like to be less safe and more out of the box, more revolutionary. Another goal of mine is to build a solid network of peers and friends to learn from and share with. Last but not least I would love to check a few things off my 101 in 1001 list...

I always keep the originals. EVEN if we choose not to edit it as a final image selection. Just feels wrong to go deleting memories :)

My husband, my family, the beautiful world we live in, our brides and grooms. Inspiration is everywhere if you just open your eyes to it.

I don't make it a habit to attend photography workshops. Most of the time I prefer to spend some one on one time with photographers I admire or think I can learn from. FAR more valuable...

I always think it is interesting when I find out some of my colleagues read NO wedding photography blogs. They say it clouds their vision and they are always inspired by other genres such as fashion or architecture. I myself LOVE a good wedding photogblog. Some photographers I love (in no particular order) Sam Hassas, Red Leaf Studios, Erik Claussen, Jason Q Tran and Wayne Yuan.

We usually clean all our lenses, charge all batteries, pack our client folder and make sure we have correct addresses for everything. I always put together an inspiration sheet that details the ideas I had in mind for the wedding as well as important client requests. Rick sleeps like a baby, but I am usually up all night with excitement!

Maroon Bells in Aspen, Rocky Mountain National Park... these are my fave spots in Colorado thus far. My favorite CO wedding venue is probably Rembrandt Yard.

I was thinking about this for quite a while actually. I believe my first memory was driving in the car with my parents in upstate New York. I remember a long road lined with trees on both sides that led to a lake. I cannot for the life of me remember WHY we were there or WHERE there was exactly but I think this is the first memory that I have.

This will be our first year attending WPPI. We made the decision to attend this year because it just felt like the right time. It really is a significant investment, but brings with it a lot of opportunity. I think that WHEN to attend is probably a personal choice...

I was actually mildly interested in photography in high school. After completing all of our available classes I was a photo assistant for my senior year. Lost track of it until I became an adult. I started freelancing for a newspaper shooting SPORTS actually :) From there I met a very good friend of mine who asked me to shoot her wedding, that was about 4 years ago and now I cannot imagine a day that goes by where I don't get to live my passion as a photographer.

This is a tough one. Depends on what kind of session. You could rent a room or a conference room somewhere if your studio is portable. Otherwise try to think outside of the box and pick indoor places that fit your clients personality.

Here are some books that I am either currently enjoying or have really helped me in the past.

      - How To Win Friends And Influence People by Dale Carnegie (a business MUST read)
      - Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuck
      - Hot Shoe Diaries by Joe McNally
      - Master Posing Guide For Wedding Photographers

I am a big online reader. Kelbytraining.com is awesome for tutorials and photography related info. I would also recommend learning from online forums like fredmiranda.com and dwf.

I have seen some awesome things from Fuji actually. Their point and shoots have a 3 inch display, face recognition, switch between macro, night, close up etc for you without you having to rotate any dials. They look pretty slick and would definitely fit into a purse.

The thing I love most about shooting with my husband is having someone who 'gets me'. I love coming back from a shoot at looking at our images to find out that we saw things completely different than one another, but can appreciate and value what the other person saw as well. He can recognize a 'Stephanie Composition," and I can see his subtle "Rick Tilt.' Its nice being able to share something to central to my being with someone who is my entire world!

Currently my favorite photographer is Sam Hassas. http://hassasphotography.com/ is his website. He has this crazy exceptional talent for CREATING something unique and different that captures his clients spirits perfectly. I would love to learn to be able to tap into this type of artistry...
