Thanks! We have a Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR. We're not photographers, and this camera has been really easy for use to learn and use. It's pricey, but definitely worth it -- it takes amazing photos with little-to-no effort.
As for editing, I use Photoshop to add actions (The Pioneer Woman has some great ones on her blog, www.thepioneerwoman.com). -
One day soon, I promise! I have a really great system, but I'm not currently using it and my makeup and beauty supplies are randomly strewn around my bathroom sink and medicine cabinet. I'm hoping to get my life back in order soon! ;-)

I've thought a lot about this, and I think it's a service that a lot of ladies could use! Unfortunately, with my new adventure as a flower shop owner, I just don't have the time right now to do it myself. However, you should check out my friend Jamie's blog, because I think she offers something similar to this called a closet revamp: www.workyourcloset.com

I love totally random non-style questions! ;) Doak is a Goldendoodle -- a fancy name for a mix of Golden Retreiver and Standard Poodle. He's the perfect dog because not only is he dangerously cute and cuddly, but he doesn't shed!

It's back! It took a little hiatus, but it's fully stocked and back in action ;)

Thanks for the suggestion! I love me some lip products ;) Here's the post: http://bit.ly/fMz93z

They're definitely still in my top favorites! The pups got his big paws on my tube of tinted moisturizer, and I need to replace it, but I don't have the self control to get in and out of Sephora without dropping a small fortune.
Definitely Christmas-list-worthy. Keep your eye on Sephora, because they usually have great gift kits this time of year with both products together. You'll love them :) -
Absolutely! Fire away through Formapring, or email me at aprettypennyblog@yahoo.com.
Glad you decided to take the plunge! Starting my blog is seriously one of the best things I've done for myself. It's such a great outlet and an awesome way to make new friends :) -
I'm typically really bad about keeping track of my inspirations! I see an outfit I love and then typically forget about it. I recently got a B Jones Stylit and it is a GREAT tool for organizing inspiration and jotting down daily outfit ideas.

Thank you! Great style doesn't have to break the bank :)

I have a secret... They're my husband's socks! I couldn't find thick enough socks either, but I found that his work perfectly ;-) Shhh...

I have a premium membership on Flickr, which gives me unlimited storage space for all my photos. I upload all of my shots to Flickr first (after any editing in Photoshop, which is usually just to correct lighting) and then post the photos from Flickr to my blog. This is easy-peasy: When you upload a photo, click "Share this" on the photo's page, then grab the HTML code and paste it into your blog post! You can select different sizes in the "Share this" drop box, and Flickr does all the hard work of sizing your photos for you :) I usually use the 500 size.
I also always take my photos using the same portrait orientation, instead of mixing up portrait and landscape. -
Definitely! I'm waiting for the weather to get cooler. Right now, it's still on the 80's where I live, but I think January or February will be perfect!

I'm not one of those women that won't leave the house without full make-up, but my interpretation of "comfy" is probably much dressier than most people's. When I love what I'm wearing, I just feel better! Plus I live in a really small town, where you can't go to the grocery store without running into someone... so you always have to be "presentable" ;-)

Honestly, YES! Before I did bootcamp, it wasn't unusual for me to shop at least once a week. I was buying things on major sale, but my purchases were adding up to huge expenditures! Doing the bootcamp (which coincided with a 7-week shopping ban) really made me realize how far I can stretch limited resources. Now, I may shop once a month, and only when I have a predetermined list of what I'm looking for.
They say it takes 21 days to break a habit, so maybe it's true! :) -
I LOVE the concept of TOMS, but I don't own a pair (yet). I think they're a lot more casual than my typical style, so I don't know if I can justify the price since I probably wouldn't wear them often. I also wonder how comfortable they are! One of my favorite local boutiques just started carrying them, so I think I'm going to have to check them out :-)

You can't go wrong with those two choices! But just a head's up, the City Block is more of a primer than tinted moisturizer... it's not going to give you much coverage, but you can use it under anything! Thanks for the bonus tip!!

Ugh, my skin issues have plagued me my whole life, and I really think I've tried everything under the sun -- from expensive department store brands to every drugstore product known to man and everything in between. But -- and I don't want to jinx it -- I really think converting to all-natural and organic products has helped a lot! There are so many chemicals in traditional cosmetics and body treatments, which just exacerbate skin problems.
This routine is going to sound a little crazy and excessive, but it's better than being itchy all day:
I start with a really gentle soap, or a fresh-milled bar soap in the shower. L'Occitane Shea Butter Extra Gentle is my favorite, but if you want a less expensive alternative, try Burt's Bees Milk and Shea Butter bar (available at most drug stores).
While I'm still in the shower, I use a moisturizing shower oil. First choice: L'Occitane Amande Shower Oil (smells ah-mazing). Second choice: Neutrogena Light Sesame Body Oil.
Finally, I lather up head-to-toe with lotion. I LOVE Korres body butters (available at Sephora) in Yogurt and Jasmine. They smell really clean and fresh, and a little goes a long way. It can feel a little greasy at first, but it absorbs and then lasts and lasts. This is the first body lotion I've ever bought that I keep restocking, and it keeps my skin moisturized and comfortable all day.
And one more thing (which is something I'm really bad at) drinking lots of water really helps! When I'm living off of Diet Coke and iced tea, I notice my dry skin a lot more than when I stay hydrated.
Hope this helps! Let me know if any of these work for you. :-) -
I use a LOT of Clinique products! It was one of the first brands of skincare I ever used, and my mom started me on the 3-step when I was about 14 (thanks mom, good habits start early!) It's a great brand for sensitive skin, and their makeup is perfect for more natural finishes. They have the best bonuses, and I try to hold out on restocking the things I need until bonus time :)
Here are my "must-haves":
SKINCARE
1. I really like their 3-step skincare, and I recommend buying the liquid facial soap over the bar (bars can be like little bacteria petri dishes and aggravate breakouts). I also prefer the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel over the lotion version... it just seems to absorb better and doesn't leave my skin greasy.
2. I've used (and liked) the Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm ($27) and I think I'll pick up a fresh jar when the weather gets cooler and dryer. It takes off every stitch of makeup without over-drying, but can be a little too balmy for the summer.
3. All About Eyes ($28.50) is the only eye cream I've ever used, and it is awesome.
4. I use City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector ($17.50) every day as a tinted moisturizer. It's also a great primer and helps your makeup stay fresh all day.
MAKEUP
1. My mom just bought me the Superbalanced Powder Makeup ($34.50) and I love the sheer, airbrushed coverage. I've been using it over the City Block all summer, and I'm totally hooked. It's my new favorite Clinique product.
2. The Even Better liquid foundation is great, too, and I use it in whenever I want a little more coverage. It really does seem to even out skin tone and lighten my sunspots!
3. The High Impact mascara ($14) is a classic, and it's one of my favorite mascaras of all time. It's really natural and doesn't flake -- a perfect everyday product.
4. Finally, the Airbrush Concealer Illuminator ($19.50) is a girl's best friend. I used this stuff until it was gone (which almost never happens, I usually end up throwing stuff out because it gets old before I use it up) and then tried a few other concealers from other brands, none of which measured up. I need to restock this, asap.
This is really just the tip of the iceberg of my Clinique obsession, but I think these are all great products if you're new to the brand. Let me know what you try out, and what you think! -
Why not blog about both?! What about a fashion blog that focuses on healthy living and weight loss? I imagine there's a large audience of ladies that have lost weight and are seeking advice and inspiration for dressing their new bodies. If you have experience writing about those subjects and you're comfortable with the topic, it will probably make writing about the fashion side easier, too.
My favorite style blogs are the ones that offer something unique -- for example, I love Kendi Everyday (http://kendieveryday.blogspot.com) and while I think Kendi has impeccable style, it's her fun writing style and quirky comedy that keeps me coming back for more. Another one of my favorites, The Greta Guide, is a fashion blog that focuses on eco-friendly beauty and fashion. Both of these ladies are really talented at other things in addition to putting great outfits together, and they bring their strengths and knowledge into their blogs. You should do the same!
