Yes, I just started shooting film again in the last year or so. It's very on and off though-- I have yet to really settle into a good ratio or habit for shooting film and digital.

i am also responsible for sewer caps and this pottery store in Oakland. http://www.awpotteryusa.com/

Well, that particular image was photographed the day after it rained, so the hills were already excessively green. I bumped the color in the sky a bit in post, but I think just looking for color in real life goes a long way.

I have not, but I would absolutely love to!

50/1.2 or 1.4, 70-200/2.8, 100 macro. And then there's video equipment: a suitcase and/or backpack for our gear, stabilizers/steadicams, wireless lavs, viewfinder, and I'm sure tons more. =) But I'm also ok with what I have!

Only when there are babies involved. Hahah who is asking these questions?

Weddings in Australia, Hawaii, somewhere in Europe would be a nice start. =)

Never seen it. What is up with it?

What comes to mind: Hero, In the Mood for Love both with brillaint cinematography by Christopher Doyle, Amelie, Chocolat, for selling a mood, and I also love Eternal Sunshine for its brilliant use of the video medium. Not that any of those directly inform my particular style, but they are inspirational on the whole!

I've always wanted to live in a converted loft!

I have so many personal heroes who have helped me in photography. I wrote them all a shoutout in a blog post once: http://annawu.com/blog/2010/04/with-gratitude/
I will also say my favorite photographer right now is Caroline Tran, without a doubt. Her imagery is just so soft, buttery, beautiful... and every single session she shoots is just amazing. http://www.carolinetran.net/blog/ -
Before I ever had a clear idea of what I wanted to do, I started forming a picture in my mind of the kind of lifestyle I wanted to live. I love having flexibility in my time, the ability to travel and explore the world around me, and creativity and ownership over the projects I take on. If I weren't a wedding photographer, I would still seek some other job that would afford me this kind of life.

My good friend did this and I had way too much fun asking her questions =)

At the moment, I'm loving the sappy good stuff. Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap, All We Are by Matt Nathanson.
And of course, I have to support my Asian American artists at the top of my playlist: Alice Tong, Clara C, Priscilla Ahn, Cynthia Lin. -
So I COULD be another race, but I would stay Asian American. Partly because a lifetime of identity-construction has made it really difficult to imagine life any other way, and partly because I have a strong political identification with being Asian American, and it's shaped so much of who I am and what I do today.
But it would be really interesting if I just woke up one day and was some other race. I've actually thought about this as a movie/art piece premise before, and I wonder if it's been done: tell a whole story with an all-white (or any other race) cast and suddenly switch the characters' race halfway through. There are doublessly endless implications that come with race- it'd be interesting to see it brought to light in that way. Just a random thought from my brain. =) -
Big question! My current AmeriCorps position ends at the end of June, and as of right now, I have no other job lined up past that. But I do have eight weddings booked for the fall, so if needed, I can at least survive for the next few months. Ideally, I will find a similar nonprofit or education-related position in Oakland that will allow me to make a steady flow of income while I still build on my photography business. Anyone want to offer me a job? =)
-
Come talk to me anyway! Why does this sound like an ominous conversation? Just broach the subject, and field the conversation however it goes. If conversation isn't flowing, you can always try jotting me a note or writing me an email too!

I miss hanging out with my students and I miss those rare days when I could tell I was making an impact on my students. I think great teachers are just about the most important people in this world. But I will be the first to tell you, I am just NOT a great teacher. And that's totally ok.
For me, teaching last year reaffirmed that I'm much better with smaller groups of people, and I'd be much better suited to working behind the scenes, dreaming up the ideas, taking care of the logistics, being the support for those awesome teachers, and helping them to do what they do best. That's what helped me succeed with Program Directing at TAF (http://tafworld.org) and also what drew me to my current work with the with a nonprofit, helping to run an after-school program.
Finding out what you're not suited for helps you to figure out what you should be doing in life, so for that, I'm grateful.
