Don't you get sick of all the douchebags in town for SXSW?
Yes, I do. But it's important to remember that SXSW is one of the things that makes Austin a great (and internationally known) arts community.
That said, Austin does not have the infrastructure to deal with the people who already live here, so traffic/pub transport/taxis/everything is totally swamped. It's really the music portion that is irritating. The hipsters are obnoxious (because they are obnoxious anywhere) and when they swarm the city for SXSW music, it is like a spandex-irony hell on earth. Any bar worth its salt is going to be hosting some kind of SXSW event, which means the entire music weekend effs up anyone who just wants to go get a beer somewhere good. Also, brunch is the biggest bitch ever. The good places are swarmed by 11am with people who wouldn't know a breakfast taco if it whipped its chorizo dick in their face.
What I do like is the opportunity to show snobby, self-important outsiders that Texas has a lot of wonderful, intelligent, artsy things to offer the world.
