Do you have a favorite guest star on HOUSE?

For people who only did one episode? Elizabeth Mitchell was a good one because that episode was good. Also, Mika Boorem for the same reason.

But for "recurring" guest stars, I'd say Michael Weston.

Do you find that since both of you are a little more demonstrative in discussing your own sexuality/take on sex that people are a little more brazen in how they approach you?

I read Amber's response to this question, and I agree with what she said. People need to stop assuming that we're some "fusion lesbo creature from another planet." We're two separate people with individual identities and interests and feelings.

That being said, yes I do think people are bit more brazen. Some idiot made what he thought was a funny joke on Twitter a couple weeks ago and it was completely inappropriate and uncalled for. Mostly because that was his first tweet to me EVER and also because it was not even remotely funny. I'm starting to have more definitive and closer boundaries when it comes to people and their sexual comments to me. Especially people I don't really know.

Do you believe in anything paranormal?

      Hey! Questions for me!

There's too much weird shit out there for there not to be some sort of paranormal out there, although I've never encountered anything first hand. My brother says he has seen a ghost though. Given how much more prevalent video technology is out there, though, I'm somewhat surprised something better hasn't been captured on "film" yet.

If you could invite any five people out for a private dinner and drinks, who would you dream of having there?

I'm operating under the assumption that celebrities can be included. In which case: Robert Downey, JR, Lana Parrilla, Hugh Laurie, Nathan Fillion, and...you.

    5. Ashley

Since one of the features you actually love about yourself is your breasts, what would you do if you had to have one or both removed? Would you go for reconstruction?

Oh holy crap...that's a tough question. I'm not a huge fan of how fake breasts look and feel. But then again, I would get ones that fit my body and not go obscenely big. So I probably would go for reconstruction but not because of other people but because I'd feel better about myself.

    6. Ashley

If you had the power to create a devastating disease or plague, what would it be and would you release it?

I would create something that targeted the trolls and bigots and asinine people of the world. I don't know if I'd have it wipe them out completely because I think at times they are necessary to build strength in people, to give us something to overcome. But at the same time, life would be better without them. And yes, I would totally release it.

    7. Ashley

Do you think the comics community should welcome everyone with open arms or do you think there are dues to pay when it comes to breaking into the industry regardless of your success/celebrity in other forms?

I think to an extent they do accept people based solely on their names. Case and point: The Situation from Jersey Shore. I mean, if he has a background in writing and creating comics and whatnot, then fine. But to me...it doesn't seem like he does and the comics community is just desperate to get new fans and I don't think that ploy will work. I think they should stick to creating quality comics and welcoming new creators based on their portfolios, not their name or who they know/slept with.

This week, there's yet more news and debate about the "G-spot" which was actually considered a scientific breakthrough for sexual health back in 1950. Why are people still debating this?

I haven't seen anything about it in the news but I don't really pay attention to the news. But I think people still debate it because there are still people who don't believe it exists and that it's just a myth. Just like there are people out there who refuse to believe the Holocaust ever happened. There will always be people who debate things even if there is scientific proof that can smack them in the face. Or maybe it's because there are still people out there that can't find it and satisfy a woman. *shrug*

    9. Ashley

What non-comic female character do you think portrays your ideal woman?

Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time. She's made mistakes and she's owning up to them. She's fighting for what she wants and she helps out her friends when they need it. She's strong and beautiful and everything I'd want to be.

    10. Ashley

I know you answered a question that you were a fan of Batwoman as a female character that's well done in comics. What female character do you feel needs improvement and how would you do it?

Wonder Woman. I think she is constantly being made into a joke. Her constant reboots and reinventions are getting out of hand. These writers need to stop writing her into a corner and then when they can't make sense of what they've done, they just reboot. It doesn't give her any substance. The IDEA of Wonder Woman is phenomenal but no one seems to be able to execute it well.

As for how I would improve her? Well I wouldn't make her into the female version of Superman which I think some people tend to do or try to do. I think flaws are necessary to create a compelling character. When she snapped Maxwell Lord's neck, it was such an intense and beautiful moment for the character. And then she was chastised for it and cast out. She went through this whole process of torturing herself, trying to find out "who is Wonder Woman?" Ya know? She is an Amazon sent to help man's world. She took care of a HUGE problem that was plaguing that world. Yes, she stands for peace, justice and all that jazz. But the system was failing so she did what she had to do. I think Phil Hester was doing a fine job of writing her book before the reboot. I'd like to see him back on it because I think he would do a fine job of creating a Wonder Woman that can BE something.

Recently a father from Cherry Hill, NJ put a microphone on his autistic child in order to secretly record the teachers at the boy's school. How do you feel about this?

I've had to deal with some difficult parents and children in the last 5 years. And I've actually joked that I wouldn't be surprised if some parents had put microphones in the diaper bags or something. But putting that aside, I do think it's an invasion on the teachers. On the other hand, I'm not sure I can blame the father. He was worried about his child and how he was being treated at school. I didn't read any articles so I'm not sure if he went to the administrators first with his concerns which should always be done. Teachers will deny they said anything bad though. If a parent is seriously concerned about their child's welfare, then I would pull the kid out and find another school/program to enroll him in.

How do you handle other people's diet suggestions? Do you speak up and say if you don't agree with something that may be a diet trend (ex: Atkins, South Beach, Gluten free)

People don't really offer up suggestions like that. They typically say to cut my portions, don't drink soda, cut back on coffee, etc. Which are all things I've done and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've done Weight Watchers and Atkins before. Neither worked. But I don't subscribe those trends because they don't work for everyone. No diet really does. Everyone's bodies are different therefore a diet and exercise program needs to be based on the individual.

What do you hope the future generations will achieve that we haven't been able to?

Regain common sense. And rationality. The lack thereof is fucking ridiculous right now.

      Can you type fast?

"Why I'm shutting down my Formspring account..."

      Or...

"This is why we can't have nice things."

Hi. If you're someone who's enjoyed coming to this Formspring account-- or had fun asking a question and getting an answer-- I'm sorry. This is NOT your fault. Honest.

The problem with Formspring is that it gives a number of people very creative ways to be absolute dicks while remaining anonymous and unaccountable.

I have a number of friends who are girls who've gotten WAY too many creepy, inappropriate, and stalker-ish questions. And I've told 'em repeatedly, "Get the hell off of Formspring."

I've seen some of the really hateful questions Tom Brevoort's been asked. And, at times, I've told him, "You should really get the hell off of Formspring."

      Yes.
      There's a block function.
But we all know there are a zillion ways around that.
      Yes.
You can choose to ignore people when they're getting EXTREMELY dickish.
      I get that too.

      But here's the thing:
      Why should I HAVE to?
Why should I give someone the opportunity to act extremely horribly to me WITH the complete freedom of anonymity?

Anyone following my Formspring account has seen the post where someone wished me cancer so that another person could write Spider-Man.

Believe it or not-- I've received some posts that have made that one look tame.

They usually come one-right-after-the-other. And once you block that one, it disappears for a while. So, who knows, it could just be one, really pathetic person with a lot of issues and nothing better to do with their life.

If it was just that, I could deal. Whatever.

It's when that person tries to use Formspring to do something that effects me in the real world that gets SUPER creepy.

I've had someone post my HOME PHONE NUMBER on a Formspring question as a way to intimidate me.

A way to say "If I don't like what you, Dan Slott, are doing to my favorite fictional character, I will put your PERSONAL contact information online for everyone to see." THAT IS FUCKED UP.

If you do something like that, you REALLY don't understand boundaries and you need some serious counseling. There's something WRONG with you. You're NOT right in the head. On the flip-side, if you had done something like that and I COULD tell who you were-- I WOULD TAKE LEGAL ACTION. No joke.

That was a while ago. And, because of someone's problems with how I write a FICTIONAL character, it caused a number of annoying headaches for me in the REAL world. I had to get a new number, get it unlisted, and get in touch with all the friends, family, and contacts I could think of to give them my new info.

And I forgot people! And that lead to more problems! My DENTIST had to call my parents in another STATE to get my info so they could reach me about an appointment! My AGENT had a potential job for me but didn't know how to get in touch with me. So THANK YOU, creepy internet guy. You actually screwed with my REAL life. Congrats. Big win for you.

But that's not what did it. That wasn't the final straw.

      What was?

Today someone thought it would be funny to use Formspring to send me an anonymous message SPOILING one of the big secrets of the AVENGERS film the DAY before I go to see it.

      ASSHOLE.

I have been avoiding new trailers and articles FOR MONTHS so that I could see it fresh in the theater. And you went and did that. Way to go!

I get that I'm someone whose work you don't like and it gave you some pleasure to fuck with me. But here's the thing-- EVERYONE out there doesn't like SOMEBODY'S work. Somewhere out there is ANOTHER version of YOU who is pulling the SAME shit on a writer that you DO like. And just like me, that person will close off part of their social media and you won't get to read the fun social-media-ish things that THEY'RE typing. Karma-wise, that's how it works. Because of dicks like you, "we can't have nice things."

Sorry to everyone who enjoys my silly blatherings here-- but I'm out.
You can always try asking me stuff on Twitter. There seems to be more options there to go after the punks who pull this kind of shit over there-- and to hold them accountable to SOME extent.

Again, sorry. Just hit that point, y'know?
      See ya.

Do you think it's important to have a best friend?

No. I think it's important to have QUALITY friends. I'm tired of saying I have a "best" friend. Because all of my friends bring something different to my life so I can't say one is better than the other anymore. As a child, yeah I think it seems important though.

      Where do you find motivation?

In contemporaries who are putting out awesome material and people crave it, rave over it, carry a torch for it. There's something at the back of my mind that constantly reminds me of how little I have left on this planet and how important it is to leave something unique and creative behind. I don't want to go without leaving an impact, first.

      Does popularity matter to you?

For myself, no. For my creative efforts, yes, if it's truly deserved. If I make shit, I deserve to be ignored. That should clue me in to make better stuff.

If you were offered an exclusive contract with one of the big comic publishers but it prohibited you from working on anything else, would you take it?

It would depend on what project was being offered and how much they wanted to give me for it. I haven't seen exclusive contracts work out that well for too many. Most of them go after creator owned stuff after that. If offered, I would, knowing that it would not be for very long and would fund my creator owned stuff afterwards.

Who do you look up to in the comics industry?

Independent creators who work hard, hustle deep and do what they do for the love of it. Terry Moore, David Petersen, Robert Kirkman, Josh Finney & Kat Rocha, JK Woodward. There's so many industrious and talented people who just don;t get the notice they deserve. Mainstream comics are good, but the love is far more evident in independent books.

How do you think comics will/are different for your children as compared to when you were young?

They are more slickly produced, but I think style is replacing substance, particularly with the big two. That being said, I am encouraged by the growth in stuff for younger readers.
