What does it mean for a language to beat a language, or a framework to beat a framework?

Python won in the only place that matters to me: my life.

Uhh... C/C++ have their moments, prolog was sort of fun in a mind bending way. Frankly there are no other languages where programming is consistently fun though.

I follow Javascript VM development, though not to the extent I follow Python, I personally don't like Javascript the language.

I think it's different, it definitely has a better implementation however I think it gives you just a tad too much logic in the templates.

I contributed a number of patches for various optimizations, I was also active on the mailing list.

I have a natural predisposition to programming (or at least the types of mental processes that are necessary for it), plus spending more time than is probably average working on it.

Not if it's a decent community, however your patch might get criticized, it's important to remember that it's the patch people are commenting on.

Really good question. I guess I haven't been paying attention, but I think I'm going to say California, Santa Barbara was gorgeous.

Unlikely. a) I don't really have time for it amidst my other commitments, b) my interests are generally more infrastructure level, not in terms of sys-admin or deployment stuff, I just like working at the lower levels, e.g. Django provides support for Pinax to exist, and the VMs provide support for any Python to exist.

I use IL for my home address, and consider that home, however I spend a good chunk of the year in NY at school.

When I was much younger (12 or thereabouts) I tried to pick up VB, which lasted for all of a few months. Then in 2007 I got into programming once again, and haven't left since. So 3 years I suppose.

Qt has bindings, as do wxWidgets, Tkinter, GTK, and probably KDE. GTK has the nicest API I've found, and it's more-or-less cross platform.
