Opinions aren't harmful, actions are. Opinions can spawn harmful actions though. The ones that society has deemed terrible enough to cross that line are crimes. If it's an opinion that leads to something I personally find harmful, like a vote against gay marriage, that definitely sucks... But it's how our society works, and if those people don't get to vote, then I shouldn't be able to either.

Living where I do means I've entered into a social contract, and a lot of it has to do with compromises. I'm not always happy with how the system works, but that's also part of the compromise.

Yeah, definitely. I don't respect a ton of people's opinions. But I of course am fully supportive and respectful of the concept that they should be able to hold them, regardless of how I feel.

infinite? indefinite? I think it's fine, comics is comics. All mediums have their ups and downs, it's up to the creator to utilize the format to it's strengths as befits their work.

For TM I had always intended to (attempt to) emulate the giant French-style comics with the non-dyanamic paneling and wide gutters, so naturally I used the page format as well. I don't know if I always planned to have it printed for commercial reasons, but of course I've always wanted to be able to hold it in my hands.

Nope. Sometimes people call me Der but it's not like I specifically want to be called Der (or care, haha). It's all good.

Haha, I use Photoshop CS4, and I have a Cintiq 21UX at home. At work I use CS5 and have a 3rd gen Cintiq to do mah draws on.

I got rid of it after a week, haha XD I work really long hours, usually from 9am to 1 or 2 am when I'm self-employed and ~8am to 1 am right now. Anyways that means a lot of standing, after 3 days of 16 hour days I like killed my feet and had to take my desk down. Bad idea, haha. My table/ wall/ etc won't support a mounted cintiq setup and at the time I couldn't afford a new table so I went back to desk cintiq (now I just force myself to take breaks and vary my angle as much as possible) (standing might be fun to try out again if I can reduce my hours of working)

Andddd.... probably Gray Whale :D They're kind of friendly looking

First, helps to study how kids look. The skull and proportions change shape over time so it's good to know how that works (I do, but I tend to ignore that in my comics because I am lazy and I like the way I draw, those are both really terrible reasons). Next identify features that are recognizable. For Luca it's his hair and his eyebrows and his nose and mouth shape. And face shape. And their relative positions to one another (whoops, that's everything). Over time parts of your face may grow or shrink, like people who are cute kids but get a giant nose when they hit puberty, or ugly ducklings that turn into models when they grow up. You can project some of that in your drawings as well to get a sense of realism. What I like to do is look at people aging over time and use that to inspire me... I have some images of people I know, you could look at family members, look at old yearbooks, looking through random FB profiles, look at child stars that grow into adults (like Jodie Foster) etc ...

Is running a sport? I run a lot when it isn't freezing (skipped most of this month, oops). Other than that I haven't played a team sport since. uh. Well, I did Judo in college, does that count? It was peer pressure but I wound up having fun, then I never did it again :D

It's somewhere on Tumblr, I drew it because I love telex machines. They're still around, they're called teletypers now (TTY on some business cards, usually for people who are hard of hearing and have access to a machine).

You won't "know," you really have to think your ass off about it. Once you've explored all your options, you can decide on the one that speaks to you best.

    19. D

Not really. I like civilization in general! I like paying taxes to a government that is working for me. I don't think that is entirely the case in the US, and the rampant laziness and materialism really gets my goat sometimes. Overall though it could be a lot worse (I hope it won't be though).
