I think it's because over the years you've realized that people come and go and it's not the end of the world. For example when you're a kid and your best friend moves away or you move way, that was as if you'd never see that person again or a huge part of your life is just forever changed, but as you get older, you realize that someone leaving isn't necessarily a permanent thing because maybe in 2 or 3 years you can reconnect if you feel like it.

Also, the older you get, the more you start to figure out the things you value in people and so sometimes it's easier to let go of the things you didn't really value.

I think overall, as we get older, the struggle moves away from trying to keep people in your life and moves towards "how to attract the right people to your life".

I would take my friends out to dinner. We would eat and have fun, and that would be worth way more than $100
