Depends on how mature they are. My dad used to take me to R-rated pictures at that age, and I handled it fine. Some kids are more impressionable than others, though, and may not be as able to deal with the adult content. I'm a big believer in parents being actively involved in what their children watch to determine what is or isn't okay.

I know it's an obvious choice, but PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE is sublimely bad. I'd also cite THE ROOM and XANADU.

I look forward to anything Lurhmann does. Good or bad, he knows how to put on a show.

Deciding to review DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO instead of getting out of it.

That's an excellent question, and I'm going to give you a completely honest answer: My star ratings are, to some degree, arbitrary and should only be used to get a quick, thumbnail idea of my impression of a film (2 = fair, 3 = good, 3.5 = something special, etc.). I'm kind of stingy with handing out 4-star ratings, simply because I want it to mean something when I do. Four stars means that I not only think a movie is excellent, but also that I've fallen in love with it. I really enjoyed BRIDESMAIDS and will happily talk it up while it's in theaters, but WIN WIN...well, I'll still be talking that one up in December.

One of my favorites is the one Christopher Walken delivers in PULP FICTION, when he gives the watch to the little boy. I'm also partial to the one John Cusack gives in SAY ANYTHING ("I don't want to buy, sell, or process anything for a living...")

Not really my type of thing. I'm more an alt-rock kind of guy.

I would never call someone out like that publicly, but it's a person I used to work with.

Yes, I do. Critics get into this line of work because they love movies, so there's no reason not to go. And while occasionally something comes along that you dread seeing, the reminder that you're getting paid to sit through it is enough motivation to bite the bullet. Besides, if a critic hasn't seen the movie, I think people would see through that easily. You can't write about something meaningfully if you haven't actually been exposed to it.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER comes to mind, but I'm a huge Bee Gees fan. I also like the soundtrack the Dust Brothers did for FIGHT CLUB.

Only sequels that are part of a series I strongly dislike. For example, I stopped seeing the SAW movies after the 4th one because I hated them all. Similarly, I skipped the third NARNIA movie because the first two bored me to tears.

Absolutely not. I mean, I wasn't a fan of his to begin with (not my type of music), but the dude seems like a grade-A putz. I wouldn't give him a cent of my money.

To me, it means something that takes risks, that dares to do things in a way the audience doesn't expect.

Adele by a long shot.

Politics, by a country mile.

Honestly, I don't know that I've ever seen that film the whole way through, but it's the kind of grade-Z entertainment that I sometimes enjoy sitting down with.

To me, the most genuinely romantic movies are the ones that feel authentic, and I can think of no more authentic romance than SAY ANYTHING.

It's hard to pick just one, so I'll cheat a little. My favorite traditional hand-drawn animated film is THE LION KING. My favorite computer generated animated film is UP. Or at least that's how I feel today. There are so many quality animated films that my answers could change depending on how I feel tomorrow.

I went rappelling once. Given that I get vertigo, it was an odd choice on my part. But fun!
