Are you talking about "Premium Rush?" If so, the actors were really on the streets, but as with most movies, the cars behind/around them were driven by stunt people on closed roads. They did a great job of making it seem real.

I thought it was one of the most chilling and disturbing movies I've seen in ages. Tilda Swinton should have gotten an Oscar nomination. My review of the movie can be found here - http://aisleseat.com/talkaboutkevin.htm

I've always liked Fountains of Wayne's cover of Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time."
-
I kind of liked it, although it clearly is not a comedy for every taste.

Not at all. It's a very funny movie, and Aniston is terrific in it.

I don't know...Hunger Games is so much better than Twilight. Better written book, better story.

No, not at all. People should be allowed to sit wherever they choose, first come, first served.

HALL PASS comes to mind. Terrific, edgy premise. Then, as soon as it introduces that premise, it immediately begins to backpedal and play it safe. This is a movie with no cajones.

I have mixed feelings about the star rating system. You are 100% correct that it creates seeming inconsistencies. On the other hand, it's the easiest to use. I didn't go with the five star system because it never made sense to me. A five star movie would have to be a classic, but you can't really assign classic status until the passage of time. Ten stars, meanwhile, seems overly complex. There doesn't seem to be much difference between, say, a 7 and an 8. So I've always stayed with the four star approach.
Then again, I always tell people not to focus too much on the stars. They are just intended to give a snapshot of my opinion. Hopefully (if I'm doing my job right) the text of the review will make it all clear. -
I've always thought she was a very talented actress. Sadly, she didn't really get a lot of good parts after the 80s, but she definitely has talent. I believe I did see SIESTA back in the day, although I can't recall what I thought of it.

Why? Do you know something I don't?

It's very, very, very difficult to support yourself by being a film critic, unless you're working for a major publication or website. No one should ever enter this profession expecting to be able to live off the salary. Some people have managed to do it, but the percentage is incredibly small. Most online critics have to work a second job to pay the bills, especially if, like me, they have a family to feed. While I do earn income from my film writing, three people could never live off it.
I think you have to do a job like this because you love it and can't imagine *not* doing it. -
It's always more fun to go with someone, but the nature of my job requires me to go by myself more often than not, and I'm comfortable with that.

My least favorite song of all time is "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meat Loaf. It's too long and really not my kind of song. More recently, I think it is time for Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" to go bye-bye.

Not really. I'm doing something I love, and I've been lucky to develop a base of readers with whom I interact regularly via Twitter and Facebook. The opportunites that have been afforded to me have also gone beyond anything I could have imagined back when I first started. I'm blessed.
