what to wear on a date... hmmm. Well that all depends on where you're going! And you, your style, your size. Are you a plus sized bella like me? I wish I knew more about you!

I'll offer a stock answer that should work for anyone:

      Cute dresses. FTW.

It took me a long time to come around to realizing my mother was right...I do look better in a dress or skirt. For years I covered myself up in jeans and tees (which I still LOVE), but there's something about the right dress that makes me feel feminine and alluring. And I've noticed, men tend to respond appropriately!

I'd recommend something that makes you feel sexy, but doesn't let it all hang out. Not necessarily a little black dress, either. Find a dress that makes you feel free and fun and flirty.

Have an awesome date! Let me know how it goes and if you need anymore advice!

OK sorry this took me so long...this is really more of a blog post. I've been natural since 2002. And I'll tell you three brands I've used recently and LOVED.

-- Darcy's Botanicals has an awesome hair butter. I think the scent I have is Madagascar Vanilla, but it's not too sweet.

-- Naturi Beauty has amazing, moisturizing hair products.

-- I really do like Carol's Daughter Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner. They make my scalp feel so deliciously tingly!

I don't twist or braid my hair for sleeping, but I do prefer to sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase.

ranks up there with my proudest moments. But really I'm just proud of having moved from Trinidad, moved from Miami, working for myself, and working hard to keep making my dreams come true!

holding hands with my husband. Dinner for two in a dimly lit booth at a restaurant. And lots of delicious, meaningful eye contact

It never should have happened. I wish they'd just written a whole new song, and maybe sampled parts of the original. From the minute Justin Bieber popped up on the screen I knew it would be an epic fail. Don't get me started on the autotune and the rap interlude...hot mess

    6. Patrice Elizabeth Grell Yursik

that'd be so much fun!!! But I'm planning to go with my husband. May not be this year but it'll be soon enough

I try to thoroughly comb out my hair at least once a week - otherwise it just makes things more difficult. I definitely recommend deep conditioning and detangling once a week.

NOW, as for Miss Jessie's and the 4B thing...I don't believe in the alphanumeric hair typing anymore. It does give a general description of what your hair texture may be, but I think it's often used to label ourselves and others. Having said that, Miss Jessie's can work for a variety of hair textures, and it depends on which product you're looking at. I don't love Curly Pudding, but my hair responds well to the buttercremes (especially the baby buttercreme)!

I really want to go to Europe. I feel deprived that I haven't yet seen Paris, London, Rome and Amsterdam. It's the one thing I really want to do before we completely settle down and start planning a family.

Trinidad Sunday lunch -- stewed chicken, macaroni pie, callaloo with crab, leg of lamb, oildown...all the home style delicacies I miss.

I have shaky hands, so pencil all the way. I love MAC greasepaint. I just learned you can heat up the tip for a super fly cat's eye!

Let me just rave for a bit about Etsy in general. I LOVE Etsy. You can find absolutely anything your heart desires.

The sellers that I've featured the most, and visit the most often are Peace Images and Ododo Designs. I love the logo of Swarthy Daisy and still hope to collab with her on a giveaway someday. I tend to get lost on specific Etsy searches. I know I'm forgetting to mention so many sellers here...all the more reason to go look on Etsy!

My wedding ring. My husband and I designed it, and his aunt -- http://thegoldsmith.us/ made it. I love that it's a complete original and it's symbolic of our relationship.

      it's in this Twitpic here - http://twitpic.com/13g347

Sometimes yes, and I definitely used to be. But I didn't want to hide behind a pseudonym. I'm proud of my work and my words. So I've chosen to put myself out there - but I do remain cautious about putting EVERYTHING out there. I see lots of people blogging and tweeting about stuff that it'd never occur to me to share with others...

I absolutely love Oh The Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss, I'm a big fan of him and his art in general.

But growing up in Trinidad I came up reading Enid Blyton. She's a UK children's book author who is really popular. Her books about The Faraway Tree were among my very favorites as a kid.

AND I've always loved fairy tales and own several volumes of Andrew Lang's fairy books.

haven't heard it. I'll check it out if I see it posted somewhere. Never been a big Dru Hill fan, to be honest

      -- Aloha

      -- ah-loh-ha

      -- There's a lengthy definition here:

      http://www.bigisland.org/activities-cultural/68/aloha-spirit-the-meaning-of-aloha

-- On my recent trip to Hawaii, I came to realize that "aloha" means much more than just hello and goodbye. It means love. The "aloha" spirit is what Hawaiians pride themselves on, on extending love and hospitality and warmth to everyone. And that's something I can identify with, even though I am new to the word. That's why I like it. Even though I am not Hawaiian and I've only visited once, I believe in the spirit of aloha.

      fresh baked bread

      flowers, especially jasmine

food. That's probably cheating, but you need to smell food in order to enjoy eating it, right?

      Because of my mom.

Get ready for a somewhat long and not very interesting story.

Before I got married, I just went by Patrice Grell. When I got married, I didn't want to give up the Grell, but I didn't want to hyphenate and make it Grell-Yursik. So I made Grell my second middle name. Then when my writing career began at the Miami New Times, on my first day I had to decide what to go by. I was talking to my mom at the time and she commented, "Patrice Elizabeth Grell Yursik. Your initials are PEGY! It's like your name is my name too!" My mom's name is Peggy and I could tell she loved that. So I went with it and it's stuck.

Sometimes I submit articles as just Patrice Grell Yursik. I'm aware that people sometimes judge others with four names. Someone once wrote an annoyed letter about it to the paper I worked at, LOL. Whatevs. *kanye shrug*

I'm a pretty cautious crosser, the only time I cross if the glowing red hand is in effect is if absolutely no cars are in sight. I live in Chicago. Some people cross against traffic but I usually admire their courage from the safety of the sidewalk.
