ha, okay, let's clear this up once and for all.

my name is abbey. it's the name on my birth certificate. always has been, always will be.

abbigail is not my actual name, it's just a nickname.

I usually don't respond to these, but thank-you. I really needed to read that right now.

running down to the dock with my sister. lying on the edge with our heads almost touching the water, watching an upside-down sunset. and laughing, because that's what we do best.

be warned, ellie. if you ask me another question about summer, i may go insane. ;)

words that are real, that i can resonate with. words that make me feel something, anything. words i can live by.
      basically, i just like words.

I'd like to become completely fluent in French. I also know a bit of Italian, so I'd love to learn more of that.

i'm always trying to fill myself with new literature, but when people ask me for book recommendations, i will always, always tell them - any book by stuart mclean and the glass castle by jeanette walls. two very different authors, both so incredible. stuart writes more about everyday moments (which is something i think authors don't do enough) while still drawing you in. trust me, i saw him do a live show once. i don't think i blinked for the whole two hours. ;) the glass castle, on the other hand, is definitely a darker memoir. it's one of those books that never really leaves you.
as for music, i don't really know what to tell you. there's so many artists in my music library. some that have really beautiful lyrics (as well as sound) are the weepies (bet you didn't see that coming), sufjan stevens, bon iver, great lake swimmers, jack johnson, and seabear. i also really love francophone (french music), and find that when translated into english, the lyrics are so much more beautiful than songs actually written in english. pretty sure i'm delusional, though.
okay. the end. maybe next time i'll just write a novel...

Mrs. Wilson, fifth grade. One of the most inspiring/beautiful women I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She used to secretly let my friends and I stay inside to "organize the classroom", which actually just meant giggling in the library corner. She took a few of us out for ice cream one time and told us not to tell the other students. ;) I always loved writing (although it's not my strongest point), but she's the one who really sparked my love for short stories - both reading and writing them.
She passed away from cancer in '08. I do still miss her at times, but I'm so grateful to have known her.

eating dairy products (ahem. mostly ice cream) even though i know it makes me sick, staying up too late, & having to make all my school notes/to-do lists look pretty.

aww, thank-you. abbigail actually isn't the name on my birth certificate, though. i am called abbigail almost as much as i'm called abbey (by friends & family. kind of a nickname, i guess.) it's also the name i usually write on all my papers and stuff.
but yes, abbie/ey power all the way! ;)

my parents are totally fine with me dating. i'll date when i feel that there's somebody i'm obviously supposed to be with, and it just feels 'right', as cheesy as that sounds...

ha! you're asking the wrong girl. i know absolutely nothing about html/graphic design/all that stuff. as for my header, all i did was stamp a used coffee cup onto a piece of paper, scrawled out my blog's name, and took some photos. after that, it was all my sweet friend carlotta (she did a great job, eh?) sorry, i'm not much help. definitely more of a pen and paper kind of girl...

Athazagoraphobia (the fear of forgetting). I have an amazing memory, to be completely honest. But for some reason, it just terrifies me to think - what if one day, everything just slipped my mind? That's one of the many reasons I think documenting is so important. Is that weird? Probably.

Also, wigs. Like, costume wigs. They creep me out to no end. I will not touch one. Yeah. I don't really know, either...

I am not currently dating someone, and the "man of my dreams" should love the Lord, have big dreams, make me laugh, and be up for all kinds of crazy adventures.

i believe that for each of us, there is another person somewhere in the world that we are meant to be with. but sometimes it all confuses the heck out of me, because i don't believe i've ever met that person before (or who knows, maybe i have. see? confusing.) this piece by alexis from twelve odd months basically sums up my train of thought.
      end of rant.
