I like the idea of media empathy. Personally I can find anything enjoyable to a point. But for critics I don't think it is exactly needed that they acknowledge that you're not stupid since they aren't commenting on you but the movie itself. And sometimes you just want a mindlessly enjoyable film. So critics don’t need to say it but it's nice to have some reassurance.
