      Here goes. how do you learn to focus on one thing or is it even best to do so? I have many interests and I am trying to figure out which direction to go. I have been trying to do a little of each but that doesn't seem to be working.

      Hi Michelle, I found your story to be so inspiring and just what I was looking for for an idea in a french speech. I want to talk about living honestly and going with what you love, but I dont want it to sound too cheesy and motivational speaker-like. Wha

      Believe it or not, I've only had one speaking gig (last Tue!), and it was workshop-style, not motivational-style. Also, as a life coach, I do my best to withhold advice/judgment, so for me it's more about sharing my story, explaining my aim for the workshop/article/whatever-I'm-doing, and then sharing some tips or asking questions so that the audience can take away whatever's applicable to them.       When I was younger I thought coaches and counselors were magical people who never doubted themselves. Then I realized that's preposterous. How do you get yourself to coach when you're having your own moments of doubt?

      Did you wait until you had your certification to start officially "coaching"?

      I didn't, as coaching 7 people was part of the certification process. I coached often in class for 15-min chunks, but started with my first client (coaching 45 minutes/week for 12 weeks) just a few weeks after my first class. I didn't charge her & gave the disclaimer that she was my first victim -um, client - but she didn't mind! It went swimmingly.

      How much time passed between your decision to become a life coach and your first class at ICA?

      According to past emails, I think it was about a month! That's just how I am, though - I know what I want, and I go get it :) I do know I spent some time researching certification schools, but once I decided on ICA there was no waiting, since you can start it at anytime.
