ISoDIaWD: Have you ever had your heart set on designing/illustrating for a certain person/company and they rejected you? If so, what did it take for you to get back up and submit elsewhere?

A big agency hired me to work on concepts for a national fast food change character which I cannot mention at this point in time.

I created what I thought was some of my best work ever (Which I cannot show until it's public) and they basically didn't like any of it.

As long as I like the work and think I did the best I could it makes it easier to accept rejection but it doesn't make it any less frustrating. Most rejects are based on some marketing weasel who is playing art director and thinks they know what's best.

I'd say most agency work I do is about 85% rejected and 15% accepted with about 5% of the accepted being actually used. This is normal though, lots of exploratory work within agency gigs.

Once this unnamed fast food giant goes public I'll be able to show the world what they could have used. So I at least have that to look forward too.

Keep in mind the creative process is like a batting average. So just try to get more hits than strike outs and you'll be fine.
