Most of my images are SOOC with no editing, but when I do edit in PS I save everything as a JPG. The only time I save a PSD file is when I am working on cards or something that I want to save the layers on. On occasion I will save a PSD of an image that was tricky to color correct.

I usually try and ask for permission before I enter private property. I have never had anyone tell me no. On occasion I will "trespass" but most of the property owners don't care when they see what you are doing. I had a farmer once ask me what I was doing in his pecan orchard and once I told him he said..ok. Have fun!

I have never paid a second shooter. Usually it is my husband who 2nd shoots with me. I also have mentored a few local photographers who will 2nd shoot with me for experience. But I would pay one if I needed to. And no, the 2nd shooter would not get money for the shots that the client ordered. All of them will go on my online ordering. I do allow the photographers to blog them and use the pictures on their website though.

I do not do minimum print orders. I just don;t like the idea of making someone spend a certain amount on prints. Just charge more for the sessions if you are really worried about it. If you pictures are good they will always order a ton. I charge a certain fee for sessions then give a credit that can be used towards prints. I rarely (if ever) have people that only order the print credit amount.

This can be a very tricky subject. There are a few ways to do it, but these are just the ways I have done it.

-You could come up with a percent off like say 30% for close friends and family. That means 30% off for everything. I have done it this way and I have never had anyone in my family complain about it.

-Another way I have done it is to not charge them for me to show up at the wedding/session but charge them full price for any prints or products they want to buy. You are taking a risk by doing it this way. I have also done this and have never had a problem with them not buying anything and you making no money.

-If they are a very close 1st cousin (like you think of them as a sister close) I don't charge anything because it is like personal work for me. If they order prints or albums I make sure I cover my costs and time but I am not making money on this. Alex hates when I do this option but oh well. On this same note, This is how I deal with all of mine and Alex's siblings and also our parents. I never charge them anything unless they order something.

I am sure there are better options but this is all I know!

      Thanks!

It isn't so much the nudity as it is the tone of what the session would be. I think I would have a hard time telling people how to be sexy.
Why the frowny face? Did you want me to take some of you? Who is this asking! LOL
But seriously though I can't say I would flat out say no, in fact I probably would say yes. It really depends on the person I guess. I have never really had anyone I know ask me to take some pictures like that before.

I might be the last person to ask about this because I would feel awkward shooting boudoir pictures of a woman. I have had people ask and I have referred them to someone else. I like the look of those pictures but they are not my thing to shoot.

Ummmm...I don't really understand the question so I guess no! Ha ha ha! I have lightroom and haven't opened it in almost a year! I really want to learn more about it because I know it is a valuable and powerful tool.
I have a few actions that I use in PS but almost all of my shots are straight out of the camera. I have worked very hard the past year and a half to work on getting my exposure right in camera.
Does that answer you question at all?

Filters- No. I can't think of a time while shooting portraits or weddings that you would need one. Landscapes and nature shot are different. And I will NEVER put a UV filter on my lenses. Nothing ruins the quality of a $1500 piece of glass like a cheap UV filter.
As far as lightning goes I try to shoot as much natural light as possible. If I have to I will use my flashes. I am looking into some video lights as well. Maybe.

      First of THANKS!

Now to answer the question. Get out there and shoot!!! Practice everyday and shoot on Manual mode. You will never get any better if the camera is choosing the settings for you.

Another way to get better is to get your work critiqued. The best way to grow into a better photographer is to have your photographs critiqued. Then you know what to fix next time. I will look at some of your work if you want. Just email me directly.

      xoxo
