Gah. So difficult to guess who this might be from! It may well not be a part of any upcoming album - but I promise I will play it whenever we are in the same place and occasion allows it! Xxx love love

Hmmm... You have to consider the long term before being able to consider a long term move... But I will definitely be home in time to camp and drink at Meredith. Perhaps even play a few cheeky uke songs around the tent at some point...

This trip is such a massive privilege and source of joy and excitement - but it is also hugely stressful - trying to figure out how to stay afloat with no money and in a foreign country is no walk in the park - so I will definitely be spending a lot of time in Australia - where I am able to legally earn money to stay alive on!

So don't stress - I'll be back soon! Also check my latest blog to hear plans for summer!!!

      Xx

      Thanks!

Though I don't think it's stalking - as with anything online I have the control over what I'm saying - what I'm choosing to put out there, with the knowledge that people I don't know have access to the information. Stalking, to me, implies that people are accessing private information, things that aren't supposed to be public domain!

And my whole career is based on honest communication with strangers or near strangers. Those strangers usually become friends, collaborators and muses!

PS - your art is amazing. Keep on doing it please!

      At six thirty AM
      You're not sleeping again
But the Internet has got your back
      The lines are not drawn
In the sand and by dawn
There's a lullaby to guild the black

      And the vague melody
      You imagine from me
Is far brighter than I can sing
      That's the beauty of art
That the mind and the heart
      Can create the invisible things

      Between music and booze
      Theres a way to confuse
Your thought bubble to fill with z's
I'm a big fan of snooze
      Buttons and half-read news
As a way to return to your sleep...

Ah. The problem with being honest on this forum is that at times I also need to be aloof. I can confirm that we be in Portland at some point in late October or early November... But can't tell you specifics yet. Keep an eye on twitter, an announcement will come when all the details are confirmed!

      BUT

We would love any suggestions you might have on venues to try getting other shows lined up for! I love Portland and would relish the excuse to come there a few times. Also - I am spending an extra three weeks at the end of tour and will be looking for places to do house gig performances of my solo show... So if youre keen?!?!?!?

Kind of an odd question to ask anonymously... I'd be interested in how that would work out.

The concept of marriage is a difficult one for me. As a happily openly bisexual man - the idea that my country will allow me to marry half the people I could fall in love with and not the other half is severely problematic. As a man who is in a committed and amazing relationship I want to have the party but don't necessarily need the government involved in ratifying it...

I know that's a fairly complicated response to your proposal... But it's a big question and I feel we need to discuss it fully before jumping in... ;-)

I would so dearly love to come to Antwerp. We are in the initial phases of planning to come to Europe for a much longer, better prepared and more expansive tour next year! Belgium has been on my dream list for a long while! Can you suggest some places we should hit up for gigs??? Xx TD

Darling. Anonymity doesn't necessarily mean I don't know who asks such a loaded question. But yes. The most amazing. The most fittest. Also a pleasure to direct... Xx

This one is interesting. I have self-control in an overall direction of my life kinda way - but not so much in the refusing a glass of wine or living a well budgeted existence kinda way. Does this answer your question?

It's hard to pin down one specific catalyst when you reflect on ten years of awfully discriminatory policy - public lies - a decade of shame. I don't necessarily condone violence but the whole qanda program was given extra media attention because of the shoe-throw and the David Hicks quesfion. It was healing to remember that what we have now (albeit a little dysfunctional) is markedly better from the insipid and divisive Howard years.

I don't think that recording is undermining live cabaret - it is just a different artform. It took a lot of adjusting to. If you don't know it - we were recording our EP two weeks ago - its going to be killer. We recorded four of the songs from the Spaces Between and one from Where Was I. Will they be the same as they are in the show? Not at all.

I mean the same lyrics and melodies, but a lot of the raw energy and the imperfection which is essential and beautiful in live cabaret simply doesn't transfer to the recorded media.

I am so very very proud of this EP - it is our first attempt and it will feature our inaugural twitter choir - people from all around the world have submitted vocals to the sing-a-long at the end of the Debt Collectors.

So... not sure if I fully answered your question - but the songs that stand the test of time will DEFINITELY be recorded and released, but not necessarily in the same structure as in the shows...

      Xx

I think spending time in solitude is VITAL to stay empowered and sane. Living alone is good for that. Its also just important to have moments to check in with yourself - make sure what you are doing reflects what you believe in. And double check that what you believe in is REALLY what you believe in - and not just a melting pot of other people's ideas.

Alone time is also essential for writing good music - for all the same reasons... I think.

I am so late on answering this... I hope you are no longer sad... or if you are that it is a joyful melancholy. What do I do when I feel sad? Usually I write. Lame and emo as it may be - I really do end up often going for long meandering wanders - if I find a familiar street I will turn off it immediately and try to find things I have never looked at before. Imagine the lives of people in the houses I walk past etc. I generally will end up at (a) a pub or (b) a park. And I will write terrible stream of consciousness to try and figure out what the hell I'm sad about (there is not much that I can logically be sad about... and besides... silver lining blah blah blah).

Wine and cigarettes (despite advertising to the contrary) also help when applied in generous doses.
