Not especially. That's why Faith wears a hat out in public the completely covers her ears. That way they avoid any public gawking (or worse, like you mentioned). That way people in the town who know aren't tempted to stare, and people who don't know (especially potentially dangerous people) don't have to know. Hats can fall off, of course, so it IS something Sara worries about. Incidents have happened before, but nothing very severe (thankfully for them).
