I like huggies wipes, they are affordable, I can almost always find a coupon and a sale that match up. I hates seventh generation and pampers because I am sensitive to smells, and I felt theirs were too strong.
Behr wears Pampers diapers. He also wore some seventh generation, but again, I go for sale + coupon and seventh generation are hard to find in DC, and usually over priced. We received so many diapers as baby gifts that we actually didn't buy any until he was 6 months old! It was incredible. -
This answer is quite tardy, Behr is excited about using the potty, but since we have him in daycare, he only really uses it at home, for number 2, which he doesn't like to do in his diaper.
I am not sure I have any advice, I just put his potty out and let him do his thing. When he starts to grunt in a corner or wait by the bathroom door, we plop him on the toilet and read potty books.
Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions. -
I am loving my TOMS. Highly recommend them! And be bold, go with a fun color.

Hmmm...that is a good question. My work style has definitely changed since being a mom. Especially when I was breastfeeding/pumping. I used to wear mostly shift dresses, which no longer worked. The major key now is to minimize what has to go to the dry cleaners. (perhaps a blog post sometime soon? I will try to take some photos!)

Behr is pronounced just like the animal or the paint company. Not like the aspirin.

Hmmm...this is a tough question. We live in a tiny space, so I kept my registry to a minimum. However I did get a few things we never use. All of the gadgets and gizmos that go with car seats. We uses the JJ Cole Bundle Me and a Mirror. We also borrowed a snap 'n go from a friend, because you use those for such a short period of time. Anything else for the car seat is entirely unnecessary in my book.
You also need less baby dishes/cutlery than you think. I use ramekins and a simple cheapo pack of baby spoons. And Behr typically feeds himself off his highchair tray.
My number one item, our Ergo baby carrier. Beco carriers are also nice, both offer a waist band which helps distribute the weight.
The hard part about baby registries is everyone's needs are so different. Here are a few of my posts on baby gear that include my favorite items:

I realize I don't have a post about the essentials. I might have to add that to the list of posts ideas for April! Thanks! -
The Alma mini is great. It is the ONLY crib that fit in our nursery space and it was before bloom made the Alma Papa (not sure of those measurements).
Behr is pretty average in height and weight and still has plenty of room. I have a picture of him in his crib here: http://instagr.am/p/HJ9eq7EkD9/ The blanket is extra big so it looks like he is taking up more room. And a picture of him standing (and looking guilty) here: http://instagr.am/p/G6RVTNkkH9/
We don't really have a better option, so we plan to use it as long as we can, but I definitely think you can get a solid 18 months. -
It took Behr a while to teach himself to sleep. I found fresh air made a huge difference. Getting out for a walk will help both of you. Figure out the best way to your daughter to enjoy it, in a carrier? the stroller? or lay out a blanket in the park (if the weather is nice) and let her play. With babies, the more they sleep, the more they sleep! It is counterintuitive, but once I learned that things seemed to shift for us.
I have to confess, daycare is what put Behr on a schedule. But this book also helped us: http://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Baby-Whisperer-Connect-Communicate/dp/0345479092/ref=cm_lmf_tit_6
Once your baby does wake up, make sure the first stretch of time is engaging and interactive. That gets them geared up just after a nap instead of right before a nap.
And good for you for giving up nursing to sleep. It is hard, but makes the world of a difference.
Keep me posted on how it goes. Sleep is so tricky! -
So many sleepless nights, I can hardly remember! I think around 7 months. For a while his wake up time was 4am, brutal. Each time in inched a solid 30 minutes towards 6am we cheered! Now he regularly sleeps from 8pm to 6:30am. But his sleeping through the night has gone on and off. When he is teething he wakes up more easily, and this winter cold season has been rough on everyone's sleep in our house.

As far as maternity clothes go, I kinda did everything. I wore/stretched what I could, borrowed from friends, and wore a lot of tunics. My favorite online shop for maternity is www.bodenusa.com I wore their regular jersey dresses all through my pregnancy. (they didn't come out with a maternity line until after I had my son.)
I got this tank top in every color and wore them with everything: http://www.target.com/p/Be-Maternity-Seamless-Ruched-Tank-Assorted-Colors/-/A-11289930
I also wrote a post about my favorite nursing bras that you might find helpful here: http://schreiber6.blogspot.com/2011/07/gear-for-baby-nursing.html
Hope that helps! -
Yes, but not in a bad way. The pressure comes mostly from strangers and my little sister. She is a freshman in college and said "her goal" if for me to at least be pregnant with #3 by the time she graduates. Talk about pressure!

The USDA website has a great list: http://www.nal.usda.gov/afsic/pubs/csa/csa.shtml
Also you could post the question on a local message board, fb, or twitter and you might get a tip from folks you never would have guessed have a CSA. Finally, if you have a local or organic fair trade coffee shop or market nearby, go in and ask them for recommendations. Odds are they are already partnering with a CSA of some sort.
How to find a good CSA among the masses: they allow you to visit the farm, ask for referrals, if they have a market stand, go and hang out, talk to the customers who seem to know them, get a feel for the family, and ask questions. Find out if they spray, and if so, is it everything or just the stuff that wouldn't survive otherwise, etc. Find out what they grow. Be wary of crops that look too perfect or aren't in season. A well run organic farm share isn't going to have perfectly shaped and colored fruit. Some stuff will look rough and tumbled, but taste even better!
I hope that helps. -
oh my gosh, I don't. can we grab coffee and chat for hours? oh wait, I might have to bring the babe and check work email while we chat! ah. too complicated.
I compartmentalize. Generally I don't mix blog/etsy with work or work with home.
My typical routine - I wake up, shower, check email, blog and etsy to see if there is anything pressing. Get ready and bike to work before either of my men have woken up.
I check email and twitter while I walk. I have a lot of meetings, so I stay connected while I am in transit (except when I bike, I don't bike and text). I also sometimes peruse blogs while I am on conference calls that I am not presenting in. Typically there is a very specific reason I am on the call, I just don't know which 5 minutes of the full hour I need to pay attention to - so the rest allows me to multi-task.
I fulfill my role as momma during my lunch break - I always spend it with Behr at day care. My husband drops him off, so sometimes this is the first "awake" time we have together in the day. This is because I choose to go into work early, so I can get home early and better serve my family.
I leave work at 4:30, pick up Behr, we bike home together and talk or sing the entire way home. We play, make dinner, husband comes home and we have family time. He goes to bed around 8:00 and then my husband studies (he is in grad school) while I recheck blogging and etsy etc.
There is also bible study time and nights that I don't do as much computer. I try to spend a few solid hours on the weekend on blog/etsy work so I can take the rest to pour into family.
Are you exhausted yet? Because I sort of am. If you have more specific questions, I would love to answer them. -
I don't discuss my job, not because it is super top secret, but because it really isn't all that interesting to most people.

When I made my comment on Motley Mama's Opposite Day post, I was in no way trying to offend SAHMs, nor was it directed towards anyone one in particular. Many of my closest friends are SAHMs and I long to be in the financial position to be home with my son/kids, but first I owe Sallie Mae quite a bit more money!!! I was simply retorting that life is not easy on any side of the fence when it comes to being a mommy.

I get around primarily by bike, but this cold weather makes for a chilly ride.

That is a great question! I started making cards and rubber stamping when I was a little girl, and have been making paper good for friends and family ever since. I started doing wedding calligraphy 6 years ago. Then I started formally making card sets and invitation for all sorts of events through word of mouth advertising. Eventually I finally got the courage to jump in with both feet.

Although we have introduced formula, I haven't stopped breastfeeding Behr. I still breastfeeding him during the work week when he wakes up (5-6am) during the afternoon (2pm) when we get home (5-6pm) and sometimes if he wakes up at night before I go to sleep. He has 2-3 formula bottles per day to supplement my supply, which after 8 months of pumping during the work day began to not be enough to sustain him. On the weekend when we are at home, I breastfeed at additional times on demand, but Behr is typically content with our current schedule. You can read more about how I got to this point here:

Oh man, we crashed, a lot. Against good advice, we didn't do many date nights, even when people volunteered to babysit because we were so tired. A few things we did do: We tried to cuddle when one of us were holding the baby, when Behr was happy in his rocker, we would sit together and create hilarious commentary about his twitches, and we watch movies together. We also made mornings special with pancakes, since hopefully we had enough sleep to be coherent.
