You've got it backwards hon. He chose the quick and easy path because its quicker and easier to be weak and succumb to his emotions, to be selfish to his wife, to not restrain himself. Anakin did that. Vader was redeemed because it took emotional strength to defy his master, to defy his self loathing, to resist his hate to save his son. He sacrificed his life and the power he had gained, to save his son.
