When I was a little girl, I came home from school. My family told me to go get something from my room and when I got there, my Grandma and Pap were there to surprise me. They drove from WV to see me. It was the best day.

I love this question. :) Just to trust Him. That is the foundation of it all and I know that sometimes things just won't be easy. I need to remember that all I have ever had is Him, so over there, He will be everything to me just as He is now.

Girl, that is awesome! I love that you know that God is pursuing you. Having a daily, personal time with Him is important because we need Him. Any day gone without turning to Him is a day where we live fooled by a fake independence from Him. We the desperate ones!
I think the best devotional is your Bible. I stopped reading devotion books, but I will say that not all are bad! I would suggest maybe reading books written by Platt, Chann, Piper, etc. along with your Bible (that's what I do!). Isaiah is my favorite book of the Bible. It is in the Old Testament, but it's so beautiful to see God's heart for His people.
If you are wanting a devotion book, let me say this: do not go with a simple "teen" devotional. Sometimes they are good, BUT most of the time, those devotionals focus on one verse for the day. You would miss out on so much! For example, have you ever read Jeremiah 29:11? It's places in almost every graduation card, which is sad because if you read the whole chapter, then you really see what it's about! :) When you are wanting a book to follow, many christian book stores offer devotional books for one book of the Bible. So, if you want to study Isaiah, James, John, Corinthians, etc. then you can pick up a devotional book that is based on Isaiah and you will learn so much! These books will give you the context, which will show help you in seeing the depth of God's heart (which is what we really want, right?).
Last suggestion: What really helped me in my time with Jesus is praying before I read. I like to ask Jesus to show me Himself, to help me understand what I'm reading, to learn something new about Him, and to see my heart the way He sees me. Praying WHILE I'm reading helps too, after all, it is a conversation!
I'm so excited for you! :) You will have to message me on Facebook to let me know what book you find! I pray that you will grow intimately closer to Him! :) -
Gah, I love this question! I do love a good, fashionable outfit. And truth be told, there are some fashionable standards in our culture that are pretty immodest!
The best way to think about this line is by asking a few questions:
-Why am I wearing this outfit? Do I particularly like the shirt? If you do, try lifting your arms or bending down in front of the mirror. If you see anything that would not protect the hearts of your brothers, it's probably best not to wear it. For lower cut shirts, I'm a huge fan of adding a tank-top underneath.
-What do I care more about: being fashionable or being modest? The bottom line is this...if we care more about being fashionable (immodestly), then we are selfish because that is for our own gain. But, if we care about being modest, then we displaying selflessness because we care more about the hearts of our brothers more than attention. And BESIDES, if we are dressing immodestly fashionable and enjoy THAT kind of attention, then we need a reality check on our worth! That's a whole different conversation though. :)
It honestly spirals down for both genders. A woman's character is on display by her outfit. A man's character is on display by where he lays his eyes.
So, thinking about this Biblically, we can see that the question isn't a debate between modesty and fashion, but rather it's a debate between immodesty and a state of character. -
Yay! My personal favorite are Isaiah and Lamentations. I'm actually reading through Isaiah again!

I used to listen to a lot of rock and such, but I'm really into slow music-acoustic, folk, indie. I'm really appreciated raw talent...don't get me wrong! I love a good, loud song. :]

How fun! These are in no particular order, and I'm sure there are a million more, these are just the first three that came to mind:
1.) The week we had a tornado on a Monday. Best week ever!
2.) When Steve took us to the fun zone place for the first time. Genius.
3.) Any of the Fridays. I hated saying bye to the students, but I loved seeing them so new and alive, when many arrived to camp not knowing Jesus. Summersalt is such a sanctuary. (I hated saying bye to the staff too, but sleep was GREAT, haha). -
i have always eaten rice and noodles! my family used to say i was going to turn into a noodle...kinda funny, considering my life next year!

Good question. I really think I am going to miss openness with the community that we have in America. I was going to say that I thought I'd miss community altogether; however, I am going to experience community, especially with the missionary. It's going to look different-I'm not going to grow in Him through teaching on Sundays or a Bible study group. It's just going to be me and the workers there. So, as far as the openness, I'm going to miss safely talking about Him in public with friends. I will be able to Skype with friends and family, but even then I can't say His Name or any words affiliated with Him (church, etc). I'm going to miss not having to be cautious. But in the end, I know I'll grow from those experiences.

It's evident we're in the midst of the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse. The simple cases of people eating people in a warm state all within one week may be our only chance of a warning sign before they move closer. In my opinion, it's time now to consider who will come with you, if anyone. Who are your smart friends? It may seem heartless, but we're talking your life....whoever is with you may be the reason for your death. You need a plan and you need to know what zombies like (you) and most importantly, what they don't like.
That's all for now, I think my opinion is clear. This is far from a joke. Zombies are real and giving away my full-detailed thoughts? Now, that would cost me later on.
Game on.
