Hi, person!
There are many ways to get involved! First, I suggest going to our TZM IL website at www.tzmillinois.org and clicking on the Toolbox. You'll notice right away the drop-down shows a 'What can i do?' section! You can also check out the global website and chapters portal for ideas as well as look at some of the previously answered questions here on FormSpring.
We're actually getting together tomorrow (Sunday the 2nd) to help out with the One Planet Project in Chicago. This is a simple thing you can do to help get communication started in your area.
As you'll notice by reading some of the other posts, and by listening to the latest global radio address, it's important for you to find what your passions and talents are and pursue those with a newly acquired mindset.
If you'd like to discuss further, I definitely would like to invite you to the IL discussion group, found again on the tzmillinois.org website. Here you'll be able to chat with myself (Austin) as well as others possibly in your area on getting involved.
Hope that helps! Please email me at austine@tzmillinois.org if you need further assistance. -
I don't believe I've heard that name before and I certainly can't speak for Peter. This does look like some interesting stuff though! What's your trouble with TZM Blog? You should email them.
-
I'm not sure what you mean. People across the globe, all day, every day are working towards a better future for our civilization. I know it's hard to see at times but, it is being done.
-
Of course someone could but, such projects require the talent and funding; just like it costs Peter money to make his films. Today, however, with things like Kickstarter and the like, funding shouldn't be as much of an issue as it was in the past.
If you have some ideas to toss around, perhaps you should make a post on our Illinois Discussion Group. I know there is another person on there (Nick) who is developing a game with a relevant focus. -
Great question! Although I'm (Austin) personally located in Joliet, I've got a crazy busy schedule ahead of me in the upcoming months with the Green Festival and Peace Festival around the corner. That doesn't mean I won't be around about town though, especially with the new One Planet Project! I'd love some help with this if you're in the area and wanting to.
So, thats what I've got going on but, more importantly, I should ask the question right back...When are you going to set up an event in Joliet?
Send me an email or lets chat on the IL Discussion Group.

There really isn't anything to 'join' other than others, I suppose, that share an empirical understanding that we are one people on one world.
You can sign up for the TZM Illinois Newsletter from the Illinois Chapter website at: www.tzmillinois.org
You can join in on the TZM Illinois weekly online meetings on TeamSpeak (See instructions on tzmillinois.org)
You can go to www.thezeitgeistmovement.com and sign up for the Global Newsletter; a great resource for events happening elsewhere.
Basically, just explore the information that is available out there, there is a tonne of it! And if you'd like to help out with TZM Illinois and the various events that we've got rolling through the state, hit me with an email!

There are a million and one ways to go about spreading awareness about an RBEM. From patrolling public grounds speaking with people or handing out literature to online activism in creating blog posts or viral videos. The important thing is to do what you're comfortable with and that works within your personal skills and talents, as well as with the family life! What about starting up a club with other parents from the school discussing sustainable living and co-oping?
Simply start by trying to work relevancy into your daily life. Instead of a conversation about what team is better, Sox or Cubs...discuss the effects of competition and mob mentality. This way you're keeping the conversation going in the direction of sports but also discussing the more important issues at hand.
Make sense? -
The goal of the movement at the moment is strictly in an educational sense. By hosting global events such as Z-Day, the Media Festival, the Town-hall meetings, University lectures, and so on, more and more people are finding out about the RBEM. More importantly, however, are the discussions of the scientific method for social concern and issues of our social dynamic as a whole. As we start to see our value system and our global culture evolve, the RBEM with implement itself.
So, the simple answer would be...Now. Starting with your understanding and branching out to friends, family, community, and then understanding that your (our) community is the world. -
I don't think your question was posted fully...
The idea is access abundance and the ability to have the best that can possibly be made at that time. Artwork and the like, 'unique items', will always be around. Creativity in such ways really makes us pretty fantastic creatures! The 'ownership' aspect is what may change though.
This then breaks down into some relatively deep discussion on value and behavior so, I would recommend viewing the other lectures as well if you haven't yet. Then please do get back to me and let me know what you think, yeah? -
I couldn't tell you what might be good or bad but, EcoSolar came out to our Media Festival just a couple weeks back and displayed some really remarkable tech. It might be worth while to look into their company. Otherwise, I really couldn't even begin to tell you what might be best for you.
I can say that the first thing you'll probably want to do (if this is for your house) is get an energy audit. This will tell you exactly how much energy you'll need. If you do this without the guidance of the company you choose, you could possibly fore-go the idea that they're lying about your energy consumption in order to get you to purchase more than you need. Remember that although these people are in support of 'green' technology, they are also salesmen/women. -
I think it'd be best for you to consult The Venus Project on this question.

As far as how they fit in a 'Venus based world', I'd refer to The Venus Projects F.A.Q. page:

It looks like numbers 96 and 104 deal directly with your question.
96.
What about drug addicts and achoholics?
They can be educated out of the need for requiring artificial stimulants. Life would be much more interesting, exciting and always evolving.
All drug addicts would be taken care of and provided with the necessary treatment to overcome their problems without the dependence on DRUGS, alcohol or tobacco; all without a price tag. Not using money would eliminate the sale of DRUGS, prostitution, etc.
In a society where people are brought up with access to information, and resources there would far less stress or need for these artificial substances.
Meditation, exercises and other means in many instances will serve to relax tensions. People would also learn how to express themselves without needing substances to say what they think.
104.
What about the use of DRUGS in the future?
There is a tremendous incentive today for the selling of DRUGS and making people addicted as it is very profitable. Yes during the transition there will be problems because people need and require DRUGS. They will be able to attain them. But there will be more information out in regards to the negative and positive effects of taking various DRUGS. There will also be a tremendous amount of help for those who want to get off of them but today they can not afford the facilities today. There will be no moral judgments with the rehabilitation from DRUGS but the main concern is health both physically and mentally.
We ultimately hope to provide an environment that is interesting and challenging enough that very few people will have a need for DRUGS. Through education and a much less stressful atmosphere the need will be surpassed. People will be equipped with a healthier mental outlook or better tools for handling situations that confront them. -
Oh, no no, it's a public access channel in the Chicago land area. I'm sorry about that.
Now that i'm thinking about it, though...I wonder if we can get copies for you guys to take to your local television stations and have them play on public access. It's free. I'm going to ask around about this, Try and do some research as well and let me know what you find, yeah? TyraeClouds@tzmillinois.org -
There are loads of resources out there available for you to download and print. Including audio/video lectures, Peter's film series, many pamphlets, fliers, and cards. Take a look at the Zeitgeist Media Project and the many Tool Boxes' across all the chapters. You'll find countless bit of art from films, art, literature, and music! This is all free to use and distribute so, by all means, have at it. However, don't forget that you can create your own media as well! All the bits you find around on these chapter pages have been made by various supporters across the world. One of the wonderful things about our movement is how open source it is. Peter's movies and the lectures are free for us to use including an ISO file you can download and burn to DVDs. It's fantastic that we can not only give people the information they need but in an entertaining way.
I suggest getting a spindle of 100 blank DVDs and spend a day with some friends burning copies of the films to hand out all over. DVDs $20, Sleeves $10, Marker (for labeling) $2, gratification for helping others...Priceless!
If I can help any more, please do let me know! -
Not at all; in fact, this is one reason why the Zeitgeist movement exists!
We're actually working towards helping people understand that point exactly; that no, the system does not have to collapse. We CAN fix it however, the current trends would certainly point otherwise.
It would seem as though only when people are absolutely in need will they come together but, that just isn't the case. As a hair stylist I have the benefit of discussion these issues one on one with people all day long and, believe me when I say, they know something is wrong. The issue, that I've seen anyway, is that as soon as that conversation is over and the individual gets back into their car the information flow reverts from a decent conversation about helping fix the issues at hand to more of the same; 'just do it', 'he with the most toys wins', 'my country is best'.
The current information flow (media) would have us believe that we're meant to be hating each-other and stay divided yet, across the world each day countless people volunteer their time to help in a multitude of ways and covering all kinds of issues. It's that 'critical mass' that we advocate that will help people to realize the current system is not working and if we fail, then yes, I guess we will have to watch it all collapse before people realize. -
I would say not.
The world as a whole is ready for change. It is apparent that the greater populous sees there there is 'something' wrong with the world, that the current socioeconomic system is flawed. However, do the masses know where to go from that idea alone? It seems not. Currently we just keep on holding on to the same traditions, 'maybe if we try with a different leader things will get better', instead of understanding that the system as a whole needs to change from the 'ground up' so to speak.
That being said, transitioning from today's system really isn't so much of a 'problem' as it is a test of patience. The goal at this point is 'critical mass'; to bring about awareness all over the globe, in every home, school, church, establishment you can think of. This amount of awareness coupled with the short comings of our current system can only lead to one thing...the change we feel is necessary to enrich and sustain not only ourselves but the planet and all life and resources on it. -
So, I get this question asked quite often; many times by teens in high-school who feel they have no power over anything. There is a LOT that can be done! Yes, we host some pretty big events and volunteer our time there but, the core of the work is actually behind the scenes!
An example of some of the really small stuff would be things like blasting TZM media all over the web as much as you possibly can and on a consistent basis. A lot of supporters spend a good bit of time on facebook posting links to videos and news articles with a short blurb about how it's relevant to TZM. While I find that to be fantastic, it's also a bit redundant and wish we had people on ALL the community websites (gaiaonline, orkut, livemocha, xanga, myspace, ...) doing this kind of simple but very very powerful work. Other small but more involved work would be to create and distribute dvds, artwork, literature, and the like for the movement. Peter Joseph's film series can be found online for free but, some times that's just not convenient for certain people; some want a dvd to put in their player. You can download an ISO file and burn it to a blank dvd in about 5 minutes and, I don't know if you've been to many of our events but we run through these like crazy! Just over this past weekend we gave out over 800 of them. There are also numerous pamphlets ready to be printed you could pass out or, by all means, make one up yourself and share it with everyone else! The Zeitgeist Media Project hosts all forms of media that is free to use and distribute how you please.
I'd say more important than anything for someone with 'little skills or resources' to do would be to join a local (city/state) chapter. There are many of us that have little skill or resources but, when we all come together we can get things done regardless. Just pay attention to yourself; what talents do you have that you can put to use in helping to spread awareness?
Please, any other help, i'd be glad to be of service. -
A very very good question! A very key element that sets The Zeitgeist Movement apart from all the many companies and organizations is that it is a 'leaderless', holographic, and transparent movement. This means that no one has any power over anyone else and all information (aside for various things like, no, you cannot have my login and password for this site!) is open and free to use any way you feel would be helpful to you.
What this does is creates a movement of us who are our own leaders and doing what we each feel is right to further the movement and enhance the lives of those around us through education and awareness. That being said, whatever the organization would be that would try to stop the movement by assassinating someone would need a LOT of ammunition! Note that a key focus for the movement is to create 'critical mass'; understanding that there is power in numbers. And in the movements case, numbers of very well educated and well informed people.
How do we get those numbers? Well, the movement never sleeps, thats for sure. We have chapters across the globe equally day and night activism from a simple conversation in the grocery store to full on lectures in meeting halls. Everywhere you look you begin to see that something is very wrong...point that out to the person standing beside you and see if they don't agree. It's amazing, I think, that you'll find many do! However it's also very easy to forget when our population has been run down by their employer and wants to just shut down when they get home and watch 'dancing with the stars'. I'm saying that by keeping this information flow a constant, just like the 'entertainment' people are into, slowly you'll see (even in yourself) an evolution of consciousness. You'll see people's eyes light up as though a light-bulb had popped in their brain. ... This is the start. Educate yourself and help educate each-other.
