      kind of. usually they have just patrons, but without relationship in sexual way. but some geiko can have dannas if they want to. but then they're more their boyfriends than just sponsors.

      I would really like to know what means nowadays the mizuage of a Geisha. Could you please tell me if still they have the same tradition, or if it's forbidden nowadays in japan? Thankyou anyway and forgive my ignorance!

      well, mizuage is literally 'coming of age ceremony'. nowadays it's just switching from wareshinobu hairstyle to ofuku and it's a happy event with little party. but back in history, when prostitution wasn't legally forbidden mizuage would be an event of selling maiko's virginity. but it wasn't something... wrong for people this times, you know. it was just another way to make money and maybe not even a big deal back then.
