Strange question Ross, but I go with a yes. I'm sure Appleton could do with a new burger joint ;)

Broad question there... Tumblr for mine is a visual blogging platform that allows you to follow other "Tumblrs" to reblog great content. See how I'm tumbling at http://tumblr.sportsgeek.com.au

I think he should return where he left off, my home town Melbourne, Australia. It would be a great story to return where he last played. It will be a massive story wherever he plays but he may get some breathing space playing Down Under.

      One word... slowly.
It will take time for sports journos to realise that social media is a great resource for the "man/woman in the street" as well as a great lead-in for any stories they write or break.

I follow sports business people on Twitter & LinkedIn. I look for people who are great at sharing information of others. Then you have to go beyond 140 chars and read some blogs to see what people are saying, sometimes reading the comments can point you to other great resources as well.

Well I think you can't go wrong learning more about the field you want to work in so try to figure out a way you can do both. Maybe study part time it will open up your opportunities career wise down the track

Interesting... Google Wave got a lot of hype around it's launch but it seems to have died down.

IF and it's a big IF it gets larger takeup amongst sports fans, some of the following may occur:
      - Google Wave could be seen as an upgraded fan forum moving away from the bulletin board staple. Instead of threads discussions will be on waves.
      - Google Wave could be useful as a in-game multi user chat.
      - Google Wave is in essence a collaboration tool so it could be useful if getting fan feedback similar to a fan focus group.

At the moment I think the current user interface is too confusing to go mainstream but like all new social networks it comes down to numbers.

If no one uses a social network does it exist?

108,713 fans can't be wrong but I thought the TV coverage did not convey the size of the stadium. I would have like the stadium to be profiled more not just the big HD screen. Where were the interviews with the fans in the standing room in the end zones? It would have been mayhem out there.

The same as most businesses it is tougher to sell when things are tight and sports are no exception. Many teams have adjusted ticketing packages to reduce the overall outlay by fans but keeping them coming to games.

Very much so in terms of passion towards teams. However how they attend games is where the differences start. US Sports are always ticketed events with most tickets sold well in advance. Aussie sports fans are lucky to be able to walk-up to many sports events.

iPhone, iPhone, iPhone... did I mention iPhone?
Go to T-mobile to get a prepaid SIM for iPhone with access to web via Edge. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT got at AT&T they do not support iPhones on Prepaid (but are willing to sell you one & install it before you figure out it has no data!)

Hard to go past the Texas fans when you are standing 2 rows behind the Texas band, however at the Garden Rangers fans showed true passion when I heard, "Just hit him in the face with your stick!" 2 minutes into the contest ;)

Many teams had "official" tweet streams, but @peter_r_casey started doing it first with St John's, however the @thenyrangers did upgrade some tweeps at the Rangers game, NHL teams doing a great job with Twitter.

It would be hard to go past the BCS Championship game at Rose Bowl with Josh Groban & Flea performing the national anthem before a flyover. However the Lakers video work on a large circular screen draped from the scoreboard was very well done.

iRiver PMP 140 - Massive media player awesome - Video, Music, 40GB all before iPhones & iPod Touch obliterated the player market

Might sound strange but Roger Federer keeps winning and never breaks down... 23 straight semi-final appearances in Grand Slams... Sometimes people overlook legends who are so good for so long
