Other than just drawing and drawing a lot of his own characters, there's not much else to say. He just kept drawing whatever he wanted to and today's style came out of it.
-
James tends to just write some lyrics in a notepad, record them and then the world never sees them again unless someone else listens closely and writes it down again. I would eventually like to get all the lyrics up somewhere.
-
We haven't thought about that yet but perhaps.
-
It's possible we'll get into some graphic novels for more back story but there's almost no chance we'll reveal much of it in any future games. Nope :) The Dishwasher's name will remain a secret, at least for now.
-
We don't want to get sued so we don't outright say we take suggestions. I have no idea who slinderman is so, nope. The Fallen Engineer is entirely from whatever is in James' head.
-
We've never gotten hate mail, exactly, but very rarely we'll get weird Xbox LIVE messages. They usually make so little sense that we can't tell what they are saying but the mood is negative.
-
Probably not although there has been a fan made video tutorial. He uses a wacom bamboo drawing tablet and now Photoshop although he used to draw in Paint Shop Pro.
-
River Road Noise Machine was a band James made up to compose a few songs under with his old roommates. One of which is still a cool friend, the other has since gone his own way.
-
Paka and the crow shooting lasers is a couch co-op mode where a second player can jump in at any time on another controller, press A and control the animal following Dishwasher or Yuki. The damage is very minimal but it sure is fun!
-
Depends on the day but we work 8+ hours a day. We're rarely not working. Dishwasher was the first full XBLA game, but James has been making games since he was very young. He made Survival Crisis Z and Zombie Smasher X pre-2005 among other games.

They aren't actual vampires, but something sort of similar. They don't need to feast on blood but have the vampire smile.
-
Probably not but other folks have written books such as this: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Windows-Phone-Game-Development/dp/0470922443 and http://www.amazon.com/Learning-XNA-4-0-Development-Windows/dp/1449394620

Currently, we are not hiring but being awesome probably helps. Skills in art or programming and experience making games also helps.

The left arm. Or was it the right...Hmm...
-
No specific reason but you can find the Pulse song here: http://music.ska-studios.com/album/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile

Ska Studios uses the XNA framework which uses C#. James first learned BASIC. Michelle doesn't know programming languages but uses html for the blog. We don't fluently know any other languages but both of us have studied French and Michelle knows a little Japanese.
-
We don't have them directly available but fans sometimes still have it on their own sites.
-
Sadly, Vampire Smile does not have alt costumes for the campaign but you can play as different characters in arcade mode.
-
James likes to call it a man-skirt but I think of it more like the large pants.
