Education and money produce a sense of power. When you feel you have all the answers and all the resources, why do you need God? Unfortunately, this sense of power is an illusion. Jesus addressed this very human tendency of the rich and powerful to dismiss the idea of God when He said, "I did not come to call the righteous, but the unrighteous to repentance." He also said, "The meek will inherit the earth". People who think they have all the answers, who have no needs, who've got it all together...what do they need God for? They don't. They have themselves. They can do it all. That is, until their money or fame or fortunes fail them. The Bible speaks against consistently against the foolishness of people who are self-sufficient to the point of dismissing the worship and honor God is due...who even deny God. The Bible says "A fool has said in their heart "There is no God". When the Bible uses the word "fool" it's not talking about some one who is ignorant or stupid. It's talking about an individual who is willfully resistant to the obvious truth.
