I recommend, "Only Yesterday", directed by Isao Takahata, an associate of Hayao Miyazaki who directed "Spirited Away". This is a very poignant animated film about a thirty-something year old woman who has to come to terms with her past in order to pave the way for her future. Thought this is not a fantasy film, Takahata uses his cinematic expertise in a way that can only be accomplished in the medium of animation. This is not a film that could have been made in live action. Takahata is one of the best directors working today, and the fact that he works in animation in no way diminishes the expertise of his storytelling abilities. Ginger gives great advice so you would do well to follow it. Also, when you out, do things you like to do, and not things that you think will get you "seen". If you are doing something you like, you will be comfortable in your own skin, and people will pick up on that.

Conversely, if you're desperate to meet someone, people will pick up on that and will stay away in droves.

So, enjoy yourself by making sure you're having fun doing things no matter how mundane they may seem, and things will get better. And that's a fact.

Thank you for your comments. It's amazing how people outside of our own culture seem to have such a great sense of humor regarding sacred cow holidays like Christmas.

As a fellow chronically depressed artist, I've found out a few things:
      1) Realizing that you've been mislead by stupid people is a constructive experience. As you gain experience, you learn what it is about a particular type of person (i.e. a stupid person) that causes you to believe them. Once you figure that out, avoiding them is easier.
      2) Disregard the fact that your teachers don't give a shit about you. They don't know good art from bad, which is why they're teachers. If you are happy with the art you're producing, keep doing it. This is art, and this is about you. If your art makes you happy, then it's good.

Of course not. The people who invented angels also believed the Sun revolved around the Earth, and we know that is not true. But there are flesh and blood angels on Earth. They are known as cats.

Small one. I hate large companies. People behave like assholes at big companies.

Duff McKagan, who went from a half formed person in the world's biggest rock 'n roll band, to becoming a whole and well rounded person, and sustaining himself doing what he wanted to do.
