You know those dye boxes? the ones where you can just color your hair on your own? Well they come with a conditioner to use after coloring and since I'm constantly coloring my hair I always have those conditioners laying around so I just use those.
I usually deep condition once or twice a week, depending on how I'm feeling about my hair. It doesn't matter if you use it before or after a shower. Use as much as you need, depending on how long and thick your hair is, for me I use at least a quarter of the conditioner or more. Keep it in for 30 minutes to an hour, wash it out with warm water and DON'T use shampoo after. Oh and if you are gonna deep condition after showering DO NOT by all means, DO NOT shampoo, before or after. Shampoo is really harsh and actually strips your hair of it's natural oils which makes it dry out and what causes split ends. So, after that just towel dry and air dry. Do not blow dry.
And try this please. When you shower just wet your hair. Don't shampoo, condition or deep condition. Try it for at least a week or more. You'll notice your hair will become really oily and that is all the natural oils. The natural oils is what actually helps your hair compared to shampoo, conditioners or deep conditioners. I've done it during summer and when I showered and shampooed and conditioned my hair before going to an outing with my family, my hair was sooooo much more healthy. It was shiny, soft and it actually looked alive compared to what it looked like before. It even helped my hair grow faster so if you are looking to have longer hair try it.
