I render out the individual clips that need AE work. I typically use apple pro res.

Just make a solid plan before you get started and you will do fine. Research what you are going to be shooting so that you have all the info you need to ask the proper questions.

It is when the lens is not mounted to the camera, you are just holding it up to the camera. Then you move it a way a bit to allow light to hit the censor directly and cause crazy lens flares.

Nice job man. I would throw a letter box on it, add a bit more color correction, and use an external mic. If you added those elements I think it would improve a lot. But good job over all. The muzzle flashes looked good as well.

I haven't tried it. I Imagine that it wouldn't play smoothly. Since you want to stay around 24fps play back or more for smooth continuous footage.

If you are getting a few cams. I would maybe get a couple proper cams and one or two 5D's.

I'm not sure that I would go with a dslr in that instance. It makes it a bit harder.

mpeg stream clip should be able to handle that. Also, you should be able to import AVCHD straight into FCP.
