I keep pretty thorough notes as I read, and put down a "gut reaction" rating in my notes as soon as I finish the book, and I often put that preliminary rating on Goodreads as I mark the book "read". Sometimes, though, as I'm writing my review, and am putting the good points and bad points down, and am able to think about things a little more, the rating might go up or down a half a star by the time the final review is actually published.

The longer I blog, too, the harder I am on books. What would have been a 5-star book for me three years ago would probably only get 4-stars now, though I refuse to go back and change them, because the original ratings accurately reflect how I felt about them when I read them.

If you mean reading shorter books because I need to be able to put up a review in a hurry, absolutely. I keep a stockpile of novellas on hand at all times, usually from Kindle freebies throughout the year, for times when I have gaps on the blog (usually due to my having read things that aren't actually being published for another month or so), and really just need to have something to fill in the spaces. If you're talking about reading strictly for pleasure though, no, for pleasure I read whatever I feel like reading, blog be hanged.

Just be honest! Tell her that it's very important to you that your books be returned in the condition that they were lent out in, and that if they keep coming back creased and damaged, you're not going to be able to lend them to her any more. I'll be honest, I'd have said something the FIRST time that happened. I know it's tough when it's a friend, but a true friend would be respectful of your property.

I listen to Pandora or Grooveshark. Usually The xx or Florence and the Machine stations lol I HAVE found that I tend to give more positive reviews if I'm playing upbeat music :P

Can you convert them with Calibre? Most publishers have been very good about providing Kindle versions to go with Adobe Reader, so I've never bothered with actual PDF's on my Kindle. The non-changeable font size would be a no-go for me.

I've found that both guest posts and author interviews have a similar response, and both get a better response when coupled with a giveaway, whether it be for a book or just swag. As a reader, I enjoy author interviews more than guest posts.

I try very hard to get three times a week. As a follower, I prefer blogs that post about 3-5x/week. Any more than that, and I feel perpetually behind. I won't follow anyone with multiple posts a day, because I just don't have time.

"Review Books" for me are those received for free from the author or publisher. I don't count contest winnings, gifts, or private purchases to be "review books", even though I will often review them, especially if they turned out to be great :)

I couldn't care less about series order unless it's late in the series (I wouldn't start a series with Book 10 for example, unless I'd seen reviews saying that it worked well as a standalone). In fact, if it's Urban Fantasy, I'll probably wait until book 3 is out before trying it :P

50-100 pages, depending on how long the book itself is (50 is more for novellas, 100 is more for novels). Though, sometimes I've gotten halfway before I just couldn't bring myself to finish.

Yes. I only take it off to clean it or when I'm cooking/cleaning and don't have gloves. My husband isn't allowed to wear his to work (it's considered dangerous as it could get caught on something), so he wears it on a heavy gold chain around his neck (tucked into his shirt) :)

I'd been blogging about three months and had maybe 300 followers when I first successfully requested books directly from publishers.

Calibre! I have my entire collection in there. It can be sticky with both technical issues and murky legality if you're importing DRM'd titles. Even so, I've found it the best way to organize my e-library since you can sort by tag, genre, author, title, etc.

They're all mixed in, but I have a spreadsheet on Google Docs that has dates received and publishing dates as well as the date the review is "due" by.
