HI!
Shipping in a box is usually best for anything. Of course a three way taped box that clearly says the film type on the box is what we need for sheet film. BW needs film type written on box too.
$3 per sheet of 4x5 or $8.50 per sheet of 8x10
Scans are your choice of drum or flat bed and your choice of size. Price is based on the choice you make, starts at $15.
If its B&W film usually we would do a contact sheet but for color we will need to scan it.
Hope this helps!
Thanks -
We have the same people scanning as always, each has a minimum of 5 years scanning. This time of year we bring in more people to scan, but they have worked with us before too and have the same experience or more.
The Color Pac is custom, no doubt about it.
One thing that you might be reading about is the search for a "perfect" scan. There really isn't such a thing since a scan is subjective. In some cases we are told that print looks great while the scan does not, or the other way around. If the scan is used to make the print then how can you like one without the other?? Lots of variables going on and it takes a lot of work on everyones part to make it work.
Really its about getting the color to a great place. We want to know what you are looking for and thats what sets our service apart from other places. This is the type of thing that one has got to do for themselves to find out if a vendor fits their workflow. The RPL Color PAC is just a communication tool that we developed to help people. It may not work for all people. I will however encourage you to work with all your vendors, the better the relationship the more you can improve your products and get a great service.
Thanks! -
You could if you really needed that! But most of the time we use just one. If the work is very very different then sure, we can set that up for you.
thanks!! -
These two films are meant to be different so no matter what you do, they will be different.
NC (neutral color) versus VC (vivid color) will have some little difference no matter how you handle it.
Shoot them both at the same time at you should see the contrast and color stand out on the VC. -
Short answer: Yes :)
Long answer: Lightroom only uses pixel dimension while you are in the program not resolution. When you export the files is when you assign a resolution in the 'image sizing' section of the export panel. Remember resolution & image size go hand in hand. If you change one the other automatically changes, unless you resample/ resize the image.
So if I sent you a 72ppi image, but you export it out of Lightroom at 240ppi then the image size will become smaller to change to match the resolution at 240ppi.
Hope that helps! -
Its probably not a great idea to make just one print, but if you had to do just a single print, you could have us ship directly to your client and save you the trouble.
Just select "drop ship" and we send it straight to your client with our carbon neutral UPS shipping! -
With so many great ones who could pick one?
There were 4 shooters at my wedding, and that was because 3 more were already booked that day! So i narrowed it down to 7 day, and now you want me to pick just one??
Cant do that....... :) -
Sometimes we have a look for cross proc and b&w but not usually if its just a basic color film stock change.
We are going for your profile regardless of your film stock and sometimes we are limited by your film choice. For example, ektar would make it tough for light and airy, but with Portra or Fuji we would have no problem. -
That as a little hard at 500, so i might say shoot with 160 on those bright days so you can make sure not to go more than one stop over.

We offer a service for commercial jobs shot here in town that often need a faster turnaround to meet super fast deadlines. That service costs a little more.
As a courtesy to our clients we charge the lower price as our standard service when you ship in film. -
He seems to like different scanners for different projects which is not uncommon for busy shooters working on a wide variety of projects. For instance a wedding needs different scans that a magazine ad.
-
You can ask for that and we do it often in the early stages of figuring our what color you like. It does not cost double but it does cost extra. Usually we deduct the "film development" fee from the rescan.

Yea thats a good scanner. I used one for custom scans for a while. i didn't really like it for roll scans though but that might just be a personal choice. Also its a bit slow than i would like.

Our "auto" email system has been a little funky the last few weeks. First it sent multiples then it stopped all together, so we are working on it and hoping to be back to normal soon.
We would loveot hear form you if you wanted to call and chat about any questions you have about your order!
thanks for your patience! -
When you cross all bets are off!!
You have got to test this for yourself, from what I have seen they are not that close to each other.
thanks! -
Sure! Just email or call us to let's us know you want us to look at the film and we are happy to check it out!
-
Thanks for being a fan!
We work with all types of shooters, so yes, landscape folks too. -
It is 2 weeks right now but during the height of wedding season it sometimes slips to 3 weeks. Thanks for noticing the price list, we just updated that to read the same way.
Don't forget that Noritsu scans are done much faster!
Thanks -
It's actually the combination of settings we use on the scanner. So it's not a profile that we apply later, those affect the image in a different way, usually not as good.

Currently we only offer matte paper on our albums.
Cypress, our album company said that they prefer matte over lustre as the album holds together better.
