I kinda like the ship from Paris idea. We have done that many times before and with the recent difficulties getting through security, its probably a great plan... Have a great trip!

I think the zone system is sometimes hard to use on a person because each persons skin tone is so different. I would rather you try a incident meter if you have one.
Either way, any neg film shot at half the box speed should look nice..
As far as the matrix goes, that is something i would have to try out for myself to see how it works out.. I am more of a incident kinda guy.. :) thanks..... -
They stopped making it so only places like ebay would have this film...
Mostly I can tell you that the film is very warm. We can get a similar look on other films, you just need to ask for it to be warm... -
Hi,
Currently we charge $10 for a proof sheet. Its not on our current price list but we still offer it. They are really nice and i am sure you will like it too.... The prestige was for special projects and not often needed.
Here is the link to our most recent price list. If you are looking for special B&W services and you dont see them here, then drop us a line!!

These are different surface descriptions. Basically deep matte has the smoothest surface and luster is a bit more pebble like, while matte is about in the middle.
Some people don't like the deep matte because the black is not as dark black as the matte and luster papers.
They all look nice!! -
We like the Eye-one. They have several levels and price points, but the basic one should do the trick.
Dont forget to do a few tests prints to see how the color looks on a print compared to the monitor. -
Its really just a trick to make sure you get enough exposure on the film. At box speed you can get great shots but many find that more exposure creates a better shot. You should also combine this with the way you meter.
Many of our clients will meter in shadows of the face and let the less essential parts of the scene just happen.....
Have fun! -
That's a pretty important question! I would say that I want you to shoot in Man mode and take care to get the shots you want, my second choice is App priority, but watch to make sure your shutter does not slow down toooo low...
-
About $9.. If you shoot a lot and don't need your negs back right away, we can hold them and ship either once a month or once a year to Hawaii, that can really save you a lot of shipping cost!
The scans are delivered the very minute we finish them via FTP so you don't have to wait for those. -
It looks like you actually did overexpose by almost a stop (400 shot at 200 is one stop). Either way, lots of folks use in camera meters. Used properly they work great!
You should be totally fine!
Thanks! -
With most scans that we do a 16x20 is not a problem. In fact we once printed all the display photos for someone speaking at WPPI at 20x24 from our medium scan, so you should be safe!
-
No problem, but we only recommend it in extreme situations.
For example, if you are 1 or 2 stops over, don't do it. 4 stops over, only pull 1.....
Call or write anytime and we are happy to explain more!
Thanks!

It should be fine. USPS does not actually X-ray film, nor does UPS.
I would suggest using a box instead of any envelope, those tend to tear.
Thanks! -
Hi,
We like to have a new client use a existing Color PAC before we try and set one up for you. We can start by just finding out how you like it or by getting description of what you are going for.
Email Elan.cohen@richardphototlab.com and he can walk you through the whole thing!
Just let him know that you would like us to look at your work and call to chat about it before we send it out. -
Great idea... We are updating our site right now so I will wee if we can find a good spot for it!
Also, we can help you pick a Color PAC to try if you are not sure what to start with..
Thanks for the idea! -
Places like Freestyle in Los Angeles ship all over the world, Samys and B&H among many others..
-
We sure do! It is $3 per sheet for process and if its B&W we will put four on each contact sheet or do flatbed or drum scans.
Checkout the bottom of page five. Here is our whole price list: http://www.richardphotolab.com/downloads/richardphotolab_priceguide.pdf
Hope this helps!
Thanks -
It kinda sounds like it may be under exposed or over corrected in scanning or over corrected in PS.
I would have to see the negs to know for sure.
It could also just be your monitor or even looking at the file too big on screen, do you also have print prints that look that way?
Drop us a email with a image that we can look at!! -
It will look great!!
Most people shoot neg film in that very same way..
Don't worry!! It's all good!
