Bass, depends more on the sound. for DI i like avalon stuff alot, neves work great as well. Empirical Labs Phatso junior is nice in the chain for bass, sometimes i insert a dbx 160 (monitor only) to smooth it out. later i might add back in but try to keep the tracking pretty raw. no rules really here are just some possibilties we like.
