I had one very medical birth as a very young woman, not knowing I had choices and options and a voice that should be heard when it came to birthing my baby. A few years later I had natural hospital birth a little more knowledge, feeling more empowered and with a doula. The differences were astounding. After all these years of caring for babies and mothers, and being a mother myself, I feel like it's time for me to support young women of color in having the healthiest birthing experiences they can have.
