you post lots of pictures of things you "like" or would be "great in your closet," but I'm curious to know if you actually dress with the same flourish as the things you post.
Great question! I would LOVE to dress exactly as my blog, but life & budgets, alas. I operate on a LOT of basics, but I love color and pattern, so I do try to incorporate the SPIRIT of my blog posts, if not the actual items. So you can usually find me in black pencil skirts with fun details or black skinny slacks or a pretty dress, but I pair them with basic colorful tops and simple accessories. Since I am in school, I do wear jeans quite a bit.
Most of my closet is not full of prints even though I love them, but I try to incorporate a lot of bright colors. My friends usually tell me that I look like a dressed up version of a college student, 'cause I am still wearing basics, but I try to pick items with just a little something extra (like putting the prints in my bags and shoes, so that it is easy to dress up any outfit). Most of my fashion sense in real life comes through in my accessories.
Upon seeing my closet, one of my friends saw the row of $3.80 basic tees that I have from Forever 21 and said "based on your blog, I had NO IDEA you'd have more t-shirts that I do!" But they're easy to layer and add a pop of color to any outfit at a good price.
I keep a record of what I wear every single day and try to take photos, but my Weardrobe updates are way behind right now--you can check it out if you want to see what I've rushed out the door wearing in the past(link on the blog!).
Thanks for the question! :o)
