In a gun-fight, you'd think Jean Luc (obviously!). In CQC, I think Sean Bean would wipe the floor with him!

Best thing about the UK: national healthcare. Despite being overcrowded and understaffed, the fact that anybody can get treated for free is great.
Worst thing: the general level of ignorance and complacency in the new generations, which will ultimately result in the nation's total collapse.

I'm looking forward to seeing how far into the year we get before a movie trailer announces that something is the 'best movie of the year'. My bet is going to be before the end the January!

I think you're a bright guy who's office geekery puts me to shame... however "you're followers" made me sad...

My first and serious answer to this question would be religion, for reasons I think I've made obvious over the years. My second, slightly sillier but just as valid answer, would be sequin guns.

Both of these things are a burden on all those people in the world that DON'T subscribe to the illusion that having them makes you a better person, and that everyone else should have them lest they burn for all eternity.

Easy: reasoning based on fiction. Cults, scams, religions, faiths and so on

The only important thing in this world we've all found ourselves in is to enjoy it and try to make those around you enjoy it too!

Well in my book 'genius' and 'intelligence' are two entirely different things to begin with.

Intelligence is solely based on the power of a person's brain to deal with information of an academic nature; this includes the recall of factual information, the theoretical application of abstract logic, the learning of multiple languages and so on. This is completely aside from a person's 'wisdom' which denotes practical application of knowledge they've gained through experience.

The difference between an architect and a master carpenter is a prime example of the distinction I make here. I would define the architect as having the 'intelligence' here as there are multiple calculations that need to be made as well as countless other things I don't understand, not being an architect. However, I think it's safe to say, given a hammer the architect would be completely useless at actualizing what he'd just spent days drawing. This is where someone with a lot of wisdom, such as the master carpenter, steps in. Someone who is by absolutely no means stupid at ALL, but does not necessarily need to have academic intelligence; more the mastery of their craft after years of practice, so that even the most complicated things that need to be worked out come naturally as opposed to needing to be drawn up and theorized.

So, to the term 'genius'. I assert that to be a genius, one does not in any way need to be 'intelligent'. Acts of genius are defined by their extraordinarily higher level of performance when compared to the level generally accepted as being 'high' in any particular field.

This can be achieved by people who have suffered certain types of brain damage, detracting from mental functions that would otherwise hinder them from performing cognitive functions that are now perceived to be the works of 'genius'. This is an indicator that enhanced mental faculty is not a precursor to genius.

The very fact that you can get 'artistic geniuses' AND 'mathematical geniuses' is solid evidence that the term is not linked to a person's intelligence as art is not an 'academic' field and therefore (at least under my definition) does not constitute the benchmark for a person's intelligence.

      Who is.... the Deadliest Warrior?
In hand to hand, Winnie's sticky honey paws give him the edge.
In medium range, Elmer's speech impediment gives him the edge.
In long range, Elmer's double-barrelled shotgun gives him the edge
Special weapons, Winnie's psychic power-blast gives him the edge.
Out of 1000 simulated fight, Elmer wins 609 times.

In complete honesty, it's the people. Watching numbers go up and down isn't all that exciting, but talking to the people you meet always brings a smile.
