that would be thanks to the skills of my talented web designer http://www.cjgraphix.com/ :)

haha I'm always willing to do them, original or not :) actually if its questions that I have already answered and can use + maybe 1-2 new ones that would be ideal, they are super time consuming and I am swamped with stuff atm for the show next month! :)

Several over the years, usually they are art or pop culture blogs... although I have done a few for ones that are sort of "personal interest" style blogs that the writer just writes about who/what/where she enjoys.
Its often the same questions, ones you would expect... where did you go to school, how did you find a style, how do you market yourself, what is your dream, etc etc~ sometimes with some fun personal questions thrown in. Often I can just copy paste the answers from one interview to the next~ if its a fun or unique questions I love to answer with something new though!
Two old interviews worth looking at:

like the people in general from one state to the other? If so YES, I have been able to find a LOT more people with common interests to mine and just all-around awesome people. I think this may have a lot to do with the crowds of people I hang out with here. Everyone new I seem to meet is a creative type of some kind, which is kinda rare to find back in FL because it does not have that many serious art studios. Lots of jobs out here that are creative, artsy, and competitive so naturally you have lots of people around that fill that requirement.
Going back to FL was weird too, I realised how diverse and young it is out here...We went to eat someplace and all of a sudden I realized everyone was like 70 years old and white. lol -
God both sound amazing.... when I was younger I totally would have picked underwater since I LOVE to swim, but now I think fly! Would be so much easier to get around town, hahahaha

OMG no D: Any time growing up that I was faced with a fight I ran and hid or talked out of it (because its was just someone having PMS or spreading a lie) I have slapped a boy across the face once and shoved an adult man though (he shoved me down first, yikes) O_O looks like I only pick fights with boys. Physical confrontations (even verbal) make me ill and shake, I am a total puss and just wanna get along with as many people as possiable or 100% cut ties if they are mean.

With freelance (not focusing on the gallery or store merch) its an uphill climb it seems. I always tried to just press forward and continue, things always improved and ever year I could look back and feel that I really accomplished something that a year prior would have had me freaking out with joy to do or be a part of. I did have lows though, but not so much about the work... I always have had very fun clients and enjoyed doing art as my profession, but when it comes to companies I feel that I am not aggressive enough, and that could be why things have shifted from freelance to gallery for me. I find dealing with large clients intimidating, I feel like a name on a list to get a task done~ so I feel that I cant be myself often, and I think thats what makes me appealing to many people... its not so much my skills, its my artistic soul people enjoy.... or maybe just the boobies? lol
Freelance is always such a battle too, its a LOT of things to keep track of, papers to file, bills to pay, and its the type of job that has no clock out time. Asshole clients, 10 mails a day from people who want things for free or unfair rates, other artists low balling freelance rates so bad its almost impossible to get fair pay via some places, expensive insurance, and becoming socially withdrawn sometimes! Other full-time freelancers like Mary/acrylicana will tell you, even when you are supposed to be relaxing you are still working. For the past 3 years I had a lot of passion to work day and night, but eventually it became very draining to never stop working 24-7 year-round. Because of this I have switched to contract work at a studio now, and while I do miss the freedom of freelance, I enjoy this new pace. I like clocking in and clocking out, my time at home is MY TIME~ and my bills are happy about it as well :D Now I dont have as much free time as I did, but when I have time to work and draw as "Miss Kika" its because I want to... and not because I need to make money. -

Hey! Ok so back when I started the scene was still super new ( I think the only DIY blank you could buy was a Munny) and they did a lot of "open call" type shows that anyone with a custom could get into, mainly because the location putting on the show made money off the blanks the artists bought! Once the scene started to really blow up you started to see more closed shows that are invite only for artists they liked or successful ones... as a vinyl artist or regular artist. If you are well known the invites for those just kinda come like any other gallery invite would (I get them just like you said.. "hey, having a show, wana paint this? " lol) but that could have a LOT do to with the locations you deal with and show at. Since I'm kinda a lowbrow artist of sorts (I guess thats what this current scene is called) Vinyl kinda goes hand in hand with my locations, buyers, and such. If you never did a show before, or say are a fine artist that shows in a fancy NY gallery you would not get a vinyl invite XD different scene!
If you are looking to get into shows and are already established as an artist in galleries, the best way would be to express interest to locations that hold the shows (it never hurts to ask!!) or paint up some vinyl to add to your site/portfolio to show curators how you transfer your style to a 3D figure medium. <3 If you are totally new to showing art and really want to get into customs and showing at those particular shows the BEST way to do that is to get painting! Make customs, show them on the forums, send them in to the vinyl blogs, etc. If you have an awesome look the shows often just find you ;) -
haha its your turn to pick!! :D I could go for shabuway (you would like that I think!)... or what about that place you pointed out while we jogged around looking for the froyo store?

Oh fun question!! Well I just got back from FL, but it was a family visit to see everyone~ so its more love filled vs fun haha. It rained the whole time though!! :( Nara is in Japan for 2 weeks though, I AM SO JEALOUS!! When he comes back we plan to go to Mexico for a week and maybe Hong Kong for another week~ that will be more in the fall. I am super excited to fly down to LA sept 11th for the sweet streets show + my friends b-day icecream tour :D I'm not in the show as an artist this year, but I am excited to meet other artists I admire + eat treats with friends.
I hope you had a fun summer, it seems like it passed by too quickly :( -
haha yes!! I stayed in a town outside the city of Nagoya for a little over half a year and it was the best thing I ever did. I wanted to get out of my boring small town and experience something new and what a true culture really was, kinda just threw myself out of my element and I think it really made me grow as a person.
I went during my actual school year, it was pretty much the 2nd half of 11th grade so after x-mas vacation I was in Japan and I did not come back till a few weeks into my 12th grade year. I took japanese classes with exams so that credits for that time would just transfer over to my USA school, sadly the only credit they did not count was History, which was super funny since I DID learn history in Japan (about WWII, ironic) but the school said it was not OUR history so they made me repeat that class when I got back :/
I used a program called "youth for understanding" aka YFU, they did a great job with placement and kept track of me while I was with my family to make sure everything was ok. Loved that program, I hope its just as wonderful now. I had to apply, have a certain GPA, and be able to write a check (thanks mom), and had several interviews before I got approved. I think they like to make sure you are serious and dont wanna go away to screw around :D
But yeah, my school was awesome and I made great friends~ and since I was alone I picked up a lot of japanese quickly + reading super fast. I went over there only knowing maybe "konichiwa" and "Choto Matte Kudasai" but came back with enough vocab to communicate fairly well (although my grammar was poor) -
Thankfully never! hehe! My parents have always been so encouraging about art, my mother bought me kits, had me in classes, sent me to camps, etc since I was super small. After school I stayed with my parents for the first year while I built up my portfolio and kinda found myself as an artist on my own outside of teachers assignments, they had (and still do) have such endless support for everything I have tried to do~ I think I am really lucky :)

Aw sorry it has been so long since I did anything!!! I needed a bit of down time, but I am getting back into gear~ so very soon!! I should have some show pieces coming soon + the artbook of course, its always in the back of my mind.
I am currently still putting together enough work for the artbook, because I want to do one book per theme (so a rococo book, rainbow book, etc) so once I get enough pieces finished I will move forward with the art book hopefully :D
