Mac or PC?
I prefer PCs, but I'm not incapable of using a Mac either. To my Mac-purist brethen, don't say "But you've never really switched over, you just need get used to it, etc." THIS BABY was the very first computer I ever used. I've used both systems pretty extensively over the years, and in the end, I stick with PCs for a plethora of reasons. Here's a few of them.
I prefer Window's openness to computer modification. My husband and I build our own PCs now-days. Even when I was a teen, our family computer went through it's fare-share of memory upgrades and hard-drive additions. The second you open the case of your Mac, your warranty is void. End of story. Fine for some people, not for us.
And this isn't really a problem with the Mac itself, but software compatibility IS an issue. Through my line of work I've had to work in 3d a lot, and most 3d programs just aren't Mac comparable. So it's just not really a viable option for me.
And at the end of the day, when you buy a Mac, you're paying double. Double for the Mac OS, but also for the SAME parts that you'd get in a PC - except for the monitor. (I'll totally admit, their monitors are brilliant.)
Despite our shared preference for PCs, Jay and I have the dream of building a hybrid Mac-PC machine. And I shall name it Frankencomputer!!
