This is a complicated question, hence the reason why it took me so long to answer. Preferably I would that she never lied to me at all. That is a strong rule for her, never lie. Now there are lies of omission or even lies born out of confusion. Regardless I would much rather she told me that she had lied. Certainly there would be a punishment for the lie based upon the circumstances, but it would be far worse if I were to find out later without her telling me. It is definitely easier to forgive if she were to tell me, based again upon the reasons.

Interesting that this question should be posted today of all days. As a result of the girl returning to school just today for her last semester, my Mondays have changed. Last semester, when the girl was a school on Tuesday nights, I would spend the day cleaning the house and vegging out. Now, my Mondays will be spent doing the same.

Today I cleaned the kitchen a bit, did dishes, several loads of laundry, picked up the front room, took care of the kiddo, hung out on Twitter, Facebook, and Fetlife for a bit, and learned to play a new song on my brand new Les Paul guitar, "Taking Care of Business". Seems appropriate...

I'm doing it, being with my girl at home. Or maybe with my girl in a fully stocked dungeon and a the boy with a trusted babysitter for a day to two...

I try to fix what I can, offer support where it is needed, and give space if it is necessary. I have given up on people who were needy if the relationship didn't warrant staying. I wouldn't sacrifice myself on a pyre for someone I really didn't know or care about. I certainly don't want to be an enabler to people with issues. Sort of. I have always loved my girl, even back in grade school. We lost contact in a manner of speaking, and moved on. Years later I was dating this lovely girl who genuinely seemed interested in me, when my girl came back into the picture. It was prom actually and I went to the girl's I was dating one day and my girl's the next. I don't remember ever talking to that lovely girl again after that. I feel I made the right decision, it was meant to be. I hope that that lovely girl understood that...

Leaves messes for days that I eventually have to come across during the routine chores. Stuff that just stacks up or was thoughtless at the moment. It drives me batty...

Find her immediately, find out why I lost contact, and deal with the problem in whatever manner was most necessary. If something prevented us, I'd remove it. If she was naughty and lost track of time or had forgotten to turn her phone on, I would punish her. If something terrible had happened, I would bend the heavens to make her safe so I could punish her for getting into the situation.

Do what I do now when I don't have to work. Stay at home and immerse myself in projects. I'd build things like that electric guitar that I'm planning, build a mock up of the Tardis, build tons of bondage equipment, paint, write volumes, draw, work on my martial arts, play with the girl all the time, and live how I want...

Oh yes, many things get me down and many things pick me back up. Learning a new song on the guitar makes me happy, coming up with a new story idea makes me manic, nailing a difficult drawing perks me up. Playing with the girl and making her scream, cry, beg, and soak the sheets is like cocaine. Saber fighting with my kid is divine.
There are so many things that can perk me up, they just don't work all the time depending upon what is getting me down...

For her to bring me cookies and milk. Honestly, there is nothing really that she could deny me, not willfully...

I am, in fact far happier than I thought I would be when considering what our lives would be like with a kid. His presence still puts a huge damper upon our lifestyle and prevents many, many opportunities. But despite that, I am happy. Very happy...
