Where the Red Fern Grows. I first read it in sixth grade, and it still makes me cry every single time I read it.

From my few years being "married to the military" I've learned that this lifestyle will be harder than you ever imagined, it will challenge aspects of your life and relationships that you never expected, and your attitude will be the biggest factor in how much you enjoy the experience.
I wish someone had told me
a) how difficult it would be to explain the "military lifestyle" to civilians who don't have exposure to the military
b) to expect to move somewhere you don't want to be - it's inevitable
c) that there are times when it point-blank sucks
d) that you don't have to love the military, but you have to love your spouse
e) it's fun to get a military ID and have random people thank you for your service... and accept their thanks genuinely because you know that it isn't just your spouse who's serving -
Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls (beautiful, smart, funny, and generally has it all together)

I miss...
1) family
2) friends
3) my job
4) seasons
5) living in a town with city components
I limited it to 5 for simplicities sake, since "city components" comprises all of the restaurants and stores that I miss.
What I like best about Washington is that NavyGuy is here. -
I didn't have a pretty good job. I had a kick-ass job. No exaggeration. What I miss the most is the people, and the relationships.
I worked with inspiring, creative, hi-freaking-larious, sharp, and unfailingly generous teachers. I was blessed with an amazing social studies department; people that I enjoyed working with, enjoyed spending time with, and truly respect to this day.
Then there's the kids. I dare you to find me a job where your "product" can bring you that much joy on a daily basis. There were times I wanted to kill some of them, but the good ones - the ones who appreciate what you do, and who force you to be a better teacher - those kids are what I miss. -
Project I wish I'd done: I would have loved to have had a photobooth where guests could take those pictures and print those cool photo strips. The Photobooth thing was just becoming cool as I was finishing planning, and I just didn't have the energy to try to come up with a DIY version - however, I would have loved to have had more photos of the friends and guests at the wedding.
Project that was more work than it was worth: Not really a project, but more my incessant agonizing over the "whiteness" or lack of white-ness of my dress. My dress was ivory, and I was paranoid that it would look dingy or yellow next to anything pure white, so I obsessed over finding ivory shoes, making the guys have ivory shirts, and so on and so forth. Totally ridiculous. But, try to tell that to an irrational bride weeks before her wedding :) -
Duh. Oh, the answer is Target. But most of you could have answered this question for me.
Runner-ups: Barnes and Noble, Ann Taylor Loft, Crate and Barrel. -
I strive for classic. However, that's pretty rare. Most days it's jeans. And a hooded sweatshirt. Or jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Or lately I've been rocking the stretchy work-out pants and t-shirts. Not so much because I hope wearing the clothes will make me spontaneously combust into sit-ups, but rather, I feel less slackerish wearing them out in public.
