I wear Freed Classics but I'm still playing around with exact sizing and makers. At the moment I'm actually wearing Katita Waldo's old shoes.

Yes, but the true question is, "can I do them well?" haha. I will always have more to work on.
-
I truly wish I could answer that for you. That is something that only you can feel and know. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you are dealing with.

Makeup can definitely be tough on skin. First of all, It is important to make sure you are using good brands. Different types of skin will need different types of makeup so your best option is to talk to a professional makeup artist about it. I personally love Kryolan products and they offer many different types of foundations and setting powders. I first discovered them in Germany but the SFB makeup department uses a lot of their products as well. They won't completely empty your wallet either, which is always a plus.
My other suggestion is to make sure you are always cleaning your skin well after performances with a gentle cleanser to get all of the makeup off, but also make sure you are moisturizing well! A lot of times skin will naturally produce extra oil if it is too dry. -
I know I've tried them on at one point or another but I have never worn them for very long. They are much too hard for my feet.

A lady will never tell :o). The important part is not to pay attention to the numbers but to make sure you are treating your body well. My true goal regarding weight is to always to be healthy. I make sure that what I'm putting into my body is balanced and as natural as possible.
(Lately I have been dealing with the stomach flu so I am still working on getting my body strong again.) -
Nope, not really. I am working on it though ;)

Well, the better question is do I know anyone who hasn't dealt with at least one injury.
What we do to our bodies is very, very demanding and learning how to properly take care of injuries is part of the process. Of course there are certain exceptions and difficult situations where a dancer must stop, but in most cases there is a way to overcome injuries, even very serious ones. An injury is your bodies way of telling you that something is wrong, all you need to do is figure out how to fix that something. -
I remember during my first summer program at Miami City Ballet the teacher asked our class to do fouettes and I had a very difficult time. She had me practice doing fouettes without turning, while holding onto the barre with one hand. This helped to build the strength as well as the correct coordination.
At CPYB Marcia would do a similar exercise at the barre as well as a slow fouette exercise in the center. In the center we would start with one - simply one pirouette, controlled lowering down without hopping, then bring the leg to the side. Then you would do the other side. If you could do one like that, controlled and placed, she would have us try two. If we hopped or were in a bad position though the entire class started over. -
I can't really answer that question. I think every situation is so different that I would have to know a lot more in order to give my true opinion.
While it is true that normally one must start at a young age in order to allow the body to develop properly, I have heard of dancers not starting until "later" and still having very successful careers. -
Thank you. I do a bit of cross training, but to be honest I am still trying to figure out what is best for my body. Company life can be difficult because it is very inconsistent so every day I try to make sure I am giving myself enough to stay in shape.
I recently discovered how valuable floor barre is for me. After seeing Sofiane Sylve do her floor barre every morning I decided to do a little research and found this wonderful DVD http://store.yumiko-online.com/educationdvd-en.html
I highly recommend checking it out. -
I think that you must have both strength and flexibility. If you only have one without the other it will limit you.
-
We each must find that for ourselves, but at this point in my life I believe it is to live each moment fully and to stay completely present, which is what ballet allows me to do. Dancing is my meditation and allows me to be completely aware of the current moment.
-
What I eat is always changing but I do my best to make sure I eat balanced, healthy, and unprocessed foods.
-
Turning is about first understanding the proper position. Without completely correct technique with your turning position it doesn't matter how many times you can get yourself around. You must have quality over quantity, and then from practicing with quality quantity will also progress.
-
I can't say I have just one. To be honest I look up to many different dancers for many different things.
-
It is always possible, but for right now SFB is the right place for me.
-
Thank you so much, that is very sweet of you to say! :)
