Who is John Galt?
Generally speaking, a tool of Ayn Rand in one of her books to help push her general & rather flawed ideas against socialism and what not. Not that that stuff ish't worth a debate but the woman claimed welfare under another name so....Atlas may shrug, that's just because he has no freaking idea. I think the financial crisis and the greed motivation of walstreet, banks & people in the property markets saw to that.
Oh, he's also an excellent scrabble player. -
If you give people so much shit about being American how about you go back to Australia? Why even come here?
"If I give people so much shit about being American"
Well, that first part, don't believe I do. I don't ask anyone to *not* be American, certainly. I actually quite like the place and the people.
"how about you go back to Australia?"
See, I could. But what do you say to the Americans who say exactly the same things? I think i've got a few opinions, we all do. Things like Healthcare are rather large issues. ( I gave up on that one thing since I think nothing much will change )
There's plenty wrong with my own country too but obviously, not talking about things doesn't make any problems or percieved negatives just go away.
America is a great land, full of ( well, mostly, what with the financial crisis and recession and all lately ) hope and optimism, unique in many ways. I enjoy the differences for the most part and perspective is a wonderful thing. Sorry it offends you I don't think America is perfect. In actual fact, nowhere is. Wasn't aware I've been bitching about much recently except the need for plungers near toilets. ( And I found out the answer to that one recently from an American plumber...)
So, how about you love your country and I;ll love it too. We'll just love it slightly differently.
