FEVER ARCs: Y/Y?
What is your question?
Yes, I did break into the Simon & Schuster building last night. Yes, I did snatch 578 FEVER ARCs. No, I will not apologize--the 18 ARCs S&S has left are more than enough to build buzz and make FEVER a bestseller. -
How the hell do you stay focused enough to write the first draft of your novels so quickly? I get distracted by so many things and I procrastinated way too much.
The reason I write so quickly is so I don't lose focus. I buckle down and for however long it takes me to finish it, that book is my entire world. It doesn't leave room for self-doubt or other projects. You just have to do it.

Do you share Vonnegut's opinion that semicolons are "transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you've been to college?" I, by the way, did not go to college. From the guy who went o0o0o0o
Ha! I don't agree. I think semicolons can be very powerful, and they keep you from writing like a kindergartner. Once you've cut all your adjectives and adverbs (as writing gurus always tell you to do), you're left with simple declarative statements that sometimes could stand to be doubled up on one another. Also, using semicolons is a good way to send a cultural signal to other language nerds that you might like to have sex with them.

Is Hannah Moskowitz going to be made into a movie?

Which character from Wither seems most likely to head a motorcade?
Rhine, I think.
-
Which character from Wither seems most likely to head a motorcade?
Cecily. She would demand one. lol.
-
Which character from Wither seems most likely to head a motorcade?
Kinda like a parade? If so, I have to say Cecily.
-
Which character from Wither seems most likely to head a motorcade?
Jenna. You had to ask?
-
where do you get all this confidence from? I really look up to you
Oh, wow, thank you. You have to fake it until you feel it. And sometimes you never feel it. So you keep faking it. I think there are a whole host of issues and feelings and problems in your life that, if they never get easier, at least get more normal. It is still incredibly hard to smile and try to act like a reasonable human when I just want to cry about how horrible my WIP is or how much I don't deserve this or how much I'm letting anyone down. It's incredibly hard. But at this point, strapping on some balls and getting back to work and telling you guys jokes is what's normal. And as hard as it is, I love it. I so love it.

Would you want sisters like Rhine's sister wives?
.....I actually have two not so terribly different than Cecily. I think, if I were given a choice, I'd prefer sisters more like Jenna. (Not that I'd get rid of my own sisters, you know. But still.)
-
Would you want sisters like Rhine's sister wives?
I'd love to have a sister like Jenna. She seems like the perfect partner in crime.
-
Would you want sisters like Rhine's sister wives?
I would want them both, yes. I think Jenna, though tragic, was sage, delicate, and full of good advice. And Cecily, though she took a little while to grow on me, is sweet at her core (as far as I could tell) and just wants to be loved. They're fantastic. So the answer is yes, I would want sisters like Rhine's sister wives.
Lauren DeStefano’s Bio
I wrote a book called Wither. It's the first in a trilogy and you can read it if you want to. But you can still ask me questions even if you didn't.
I won't be able to answer questions that contain spoilers. It would cause a tear in the universe.
