I'd say it depends on the language. :D Learning French was not that horrible for me because I could already speak Italian. And compared to French, English was almost "relaxing" to learn. I also learned a little bit of Swahili ("Hakuna Matata!") and I enjoyed it, but of course there was no practical use for it. I think I'd be lost with all Asian languages though.
