I've never done this before but I've watched others go through the process. First thing to do is set up a dedicated account at a bank, that way people can send money and don't have to worry about showing their personal information to a private party (as in what's on their check). People sometimes feel more secure about donating when they can give money directly to a bank. Then if your sister is part of any special interest groups (does she ride horses, sculpt, play a sport, knit, etc.) see if those groups have a publication that will do a story about her fight with leukemia and include the bank information. If she's a member of any clubs, see if they'd be interested in hosting a benefit for her. If so, notify the local paper and ask if they'll cover it. Does her salon do any work with wigs? They might be interested in helping you spread the word about her cause in exchange for some publicity. Just some ideas. Best wishes to you both! (((Hugs)))

Mr. Buffie cares about me but he doesn't check up on me if I'm out and about. Maybe if I said I was going to be home at a certain time and I was more than 30 minutes late, he would call out of genuine concern but not out of control or jealousy.
