Apparently because I think that spending $1,000,000,000,000 at home on social programs and bailouts and economic repair is/would be a better use for taxpayer dollars than our made up wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: http://costofwar.com/ Apparently Obama is worse than the Nazis ever were and me supporting him means I should die in a fire.

This is a sticky situation. On one hand, I applaud the creativity and passion behind hobbyists revitalizing seemingly dead franchises because I know it's a labor of love.

On the other hand, I also understand the legal ramifications that drive the protection of intellectual property. The law requires you to "vigorously defend" your IP rights if you want to maintain your hold on them, and the aforementioned hobbyists are often caught in the blast radius of these efforts.

My cop out answer is that I think these hobbyists can be great assets to the development community and companies should hire them. That said, I also feel that if there is any doubt about the legality of what you're working on, you should make every effort to secure permission first. If you don't get it or don't hear back, you need to accept the fact that your efforts could be quashed legally at any time and be willing to take that risk.

I grew up in TV Land and have always loved movies. I made friends with a group who had similar interests and one day after seeing the movie "Jeepers Creepers" with said group, I made the comment that I could write a better horror film. My friends challenged me to do just that and I blogged about my intentions. I got a response from a manager out in Hollywood who read my blog and decided to assist me because he was a gamer and took pity on my naive quest. The rest, as they say, is history.

I haven't tried it yet. On this matter, I guess you could say I'm "Pro Life." ;)

I'd like to write Friday the 13th Part 2 for Michael Bay and un-fuck what they did at the end of the first one.

I think that companies that don't want their employees on Facebook while at work (or Formspring, for that matter), should block the site at the ISP level. Problem solved. I lived without Facebook and its games for 33 years. I'm sure I'd survive another 33. *shrug*

Who says I don't play games? My taste in games and the genres I enjoy may have changed over the years, but I still play games and I still stay on top of industry trends. The advantage of working with dozens of hardcore gamers is that if a game is truly worth checking out, it's guaranteed I'll hear about it.
