Yep, most deffinatley. I'd be after something 15.3- 16.2hh roughly, in which there would be two choices: A youngster thats not done anything, like 4yo, or a horse that's maybe done a fair amount of unaffiliated or done some BE that I can carry on Eventing with more or less straight away as I've never been privaliged to have that.. Either way, it would be something 4yo-8yo, good paces as I may turn to Dressage, scopey and Sports Horse type.
It was always the agreement, we bought him as a Pony I could have fun on, after having such a complicated horse that was in and out of vets, and something that I could event on for a year or two, if he turned out fab, that was great, he could go onto my sister or I could carry on Eventing him or sell him on and make a profit..
Only thing is, Im split as I ADORE bringing horses on, I get so much enjoyment out of it, as it's all Ive ever done really, on the other hand, I don't want another break as soon as I start eventing again this season, I want to move up the grades, which I couldnt do with a green 4yo.. -
I very admire Rachel Stanley, she is a very talented young rider and her results recently are amazing. She is very quiet about her riding, she always puts her horses first, and isn't one of the Showjumpers who boots, obsessed by speed, with dangerous turns, hauling the horse around. She gets a fast time by riding efficiently, realising that speed isn't everything making neat and tidy turns.

2-3 a day, 5-6 days a week?

NPS Qualifiers and Open & Novice Dengie regionals next month, followed by 2 unaffiliated ODEs, then eventing starts on the first week of April. Get Ben DC/Placings at BE100 possibly to sell.

Who doesn't? Of course I do, but its usually mainly those who can afford big fancy horses worth tens of thousands of pounds, and the majority of the time of course they're going to do well and be in the ribbons.. It's called getting what you pay for.

I produce all the horses Ive had from scratch give and take one or two local unaffiliated events (bar Dee), I do not have the money to afford something competing at a decent level.

Almost 11,000 :)

I love Dressage!

Jumping every time will well and truly fuck your horse. no.

Thankyou :P! Haha, she's not a horse you can force into anything!

I still believe after a month, they're still fairly fit and not a great deal has changed. Obviously the first few days I'd just do a bit of lighter work, then crack on as normal!

I actually get really bored of Showjumping!

owning it is the worst, have to put up with so much drama at times! best thing, i dont pay livery ;)

DEE'S STORY, FROM START TO END.
Okay, prepare for an essay..
We bought Dee as my first horse who had ever truly competed, and we bought her to start my Eventing 'career on'. The first few months consisted of getting to know her, and as she lost weight she needed a new saddle, so we got a saddle fitter..
Months went on, she kept claiming saddles would fit and I saidd they didnt and I didnt like the saddle, but she DEMANDED they fitted. So we went along with her words. Anyway, Dee soon started stopping, 24/7, and for any reason, I always said it was the saddle, yet no-one believed me. This went on for months, we entered our first BE and got eliminated at fence 6 XC because she refused to move, she wasn't happy. Turns out her back was f*cked because of the badly fitting saddle..
We got it changed, and she sent us another saddle, a Jeffries.. It seemed a better fit and we got a top saddler to come adjust it for her, however Dee had now lost all her confidence and was still stopping, but things went on, we battled and entered our second Event.. Again, she was the same XC and SJ so I retired her at fence 8.. A few weeks later she didn't seem to be using her hocks properly, and was crossing them over, she would be fine on the left rein and a cow on the right rein.. So we got the vets involved and thats when they discovered her mild arthritis (but she was very highly sensativee to it), this was over a year of having Dee (Feb 2011).
She got treatment, and instantly felt better, more confident.. I applied to do Pony Club Teams in 2011, and just before competition she went downhill again. We agreed that was it, there was nothing we could do as we couldnt afford endless treatment, so she was just going to have to be a light hack, which tore my world up.
However, even that was difficult, she became a cow on hacks, so I decided to more or less retire her. Just left her out, what a happy horse wanted to do grazing and getting fat.
Then she got too fat, dangerously fat so I had to start working her again towards the end of Summer.. She instantly felt like a new horse, she was happy hacking, we even went in the school a few times and popped a small fence or two. I thought 'Great, thats it. She just needed a break!' But then 3 weeks later we discovered sarcoids that needed treating.. This treatment went over from October 2011-May 2012, she was in utter pain, but it was the only way through it. It really broke me heart. Never cried so much in such a short space of time..
Anyway, she came back into work in May, she's had no treatment of hocks since Winter 2011-2012 and she's never looked back. I didnt think she would beable to get back up to the same level again, but she has truly transformed. Everytime she's been out shes been 3rd or higher (bar two times), a dream to do everytime, confident, happy, and I think finally 3 years of this it's finally looking up! So this year, I WOULD like to Event her, but she always comes first. She will always tell me if she's not happy, but the plan is in April for a BE80, just a little class to get her going again, and from then on just work our way up! And if she doesn't want to BE, then we will happily tootle around little XC's and SJ and focus on turning to Dressage and do some Showing Qualifiers around the North East :) -
