As a kid, it was a mix between Tiny Toon Adventures and the newspaper comics of the time (like Garfield and Calvin & Hobbes) that got me into cartooning at a REALLY early age. Even in elementary school, the desire to draw comics was always there; my parents found a homework project of mine from when I was in kindergarten where I wrote "when I grow up, I want to be a comic artist". So I guess you could call it a childhood dream of mine. :)

We'll watch a lot of movies and TV shows on Netflix, usually while drawing or just relaxing in the evenings. We also play a lot of the same games together (Animal Crossing, Borderlands, etc).

One of my favorite things is when a story or concept refuses to leave my head until I get it down on paper. I love those moments where you just get lost in the writing process, and before you know it an entire day has gone by. Heck, Whitney and I even pass the time on long road trips by coming up with short story ideas and bouncing them around. To have an idea that just refuses to come together is definitely frustrating.

First and foremost, draw from life. Once your eyes are trained to see more details, your imagination will become more detailed as well.

Working together on Peter & Company and a few other projects that we have planned to do together, while our kids beg us to take them to Disney World sometime over their summer break.

I wouldn't know! You'd have to ask Whitney, she has more experience in being awesome than I do, hehe.

Whitney and I did not know each other as little kids, like how Whitney and Peter do in the comic. Whitney is actually almost 8 years younger than me in real life. We didn't meet until we were both in college as adults -- though she does always tell me that if we WERE the same age and knew each other as kids, she would have been my friend and protected me from the bullies! LOL

We met each other in college. She was coming in as a new freshman to the school where I had just graduated from and earned my Bachelor's. She messaged me on Yahoo one night out of the blue because she wanted advice about the school, and my name was by chance the only one she found online. We hit it off right away, and once I decided to return to the school for graduate studies, we were able to be together and have been completely in love ever since. :)

As an academic environment, I seriously cannot recommend it highly enough. SCAD was a fantastic college for learning comic art. The professors and other students in the Sequential department are some of the most talented people I've ever met.

If you could only eat at one fast food restaurant the rest of your life, which one would you choose?
Formspring question of the day
Chick-Fil-A, hands down. Polynesian sauce rules the condiment world.

W: I guess sushi. I never thought I would like it, but I actually really love it now.
J: Chick peas. They're probably one of the most-hated food for kids, right up there with brussels sprouts, but for some reason as a kid I couldn't get enough of 'em. And I was a dang picky eater as a kid. For a long time my "salads" consisted of nothing but chick peas, bacon and croutons. -
Jonathan hasn't, and Whitney has only submitted to a contest once in highschool for foreign language. She won for the state, recieved a box of prizes, and her picture was put on the website.

Definitely! Whitney and Peter haven't had much time together as friends yet in P&C, but the way they will act together is certainly based on the way we act in real life.

Yup. We have a few single illustrations that we are working on, but on the larger front, there are a couple ideas for illustrated books that we want to do down the line.

W: YEAH. We recently restained a coffee table, and had to re-strip and stain it. That was an ordeal. Also we have to strip the wallpaper from the living room still, and that's going to be a pain.

J: On my 360 profile, I have at least a dozen games 100%'d. But even before then, man... I couldn't even tell you. I'm an OCD gamer and I feel like I HAVE to get every collectible in a game.
W: I've beat Heavy Rain, the Fable games, and I guess... well you can't really BEAT Animal Crossing, but I played as much of everything as you can do. And I plan to 100% L.A. Noire.
